Artist, oil painter. I love to paint skies as a metaphor for life and the connection we share with the universe.

Did you ever "finish" a painting and think it was okay but not exactly what you wanted to say with it? That's what happened here. The first one I completed several months ago and hung in my studio just to have it out of he way. I looked at it now and then and for some reason placed it on my easel last Friday. Yesterday I started playing with it again, still not satisfied but knew if I continued I would only make it worse. Today I went back and put on my meditation music while I painted and the canvas and oils just did their thing. The end piece is the exact ethereal mood I felt all along. I hope you like it. 10"x10" oil on canvas. by @soaringskystudio

This is coming off the easel, the latest in a number of recent skyscrapes. Commissioned piece in honor of a very special infant and his family. First image is 20"x20" oil on canvas; second is a detail of the painting. Soon to be added, among others to my website in dire need of update!

I am grateful and honored to learn that this has been juried into the Dublin Irish Festival Exhibit. As I painted this, I thought so much about my great grandmother, Ellen Murphy, who immigrated alone when she was barely 18. She worked as a maid for a family and I thought about all that she must have felt and thought and experienced. It's a special honor for me to have this particular painting in this year's exhibit, Dublin Rec Center, July 29-Aug 26

I am honored to have had "Just Breathe" juried into the upcoming exhibit "Endangeted" opening July 12 at the Concourse Gallery in the Upper Arlington Municipal Building. This 12"x12" oil painting represents the clean air, plants, wildlife and water endangered by climate change. It is available. Also grateful, once again, to the #gcacgrants for the funding that supports my work.

It's been a while! These are some of the pieces I've been playing with recently. A few of them are progression pieces (see can you tell which ones?) and some just experimental responding to the canvas. There's a little one in there first time using oil pastels which I look forward to further exploring! I continue building the body of skies that I hope to exhibit in the coming months. Meanwhile, enjoy, stay safe, healthy and content 🥰 by @soaringskystudio

Small details from two separate paintings that are part of a collection being created with grant funding late last year from the Greater Columbus Art Council. The framed and finished 12"x12" paintings may be seen at the Dublin Area Art League Spring Exhibit opening tomorrow, April 1. No foolin'!

The joy of finding new colors thru mixing , layering, a little "ala prima" always amazes me as the canvas dictates what is next. This is the one I started last week and have been slowly working on this week. We artist types say "working" and identifying our pieces as works in progress, and yet working hardly seems to be the right verb when the brush just flies where it wants. Yes, of course the brain is always involved lacing skill and details, refining the image. Still there is too much satisfaction and joy to call this work. This one has taken a few unexpected turns that I am excited to finalize. I will post when that happens. Meanwhile, I hope you have a terrific week ahead. by @soaringskystudio

"Breaking Through" completed last week and aptly titled. I'm learning that the older I get, the longer it seems to take to bounce back from illness and injury. But just like the shafts of sunlight coming through clouds, we rise. This 12" square oil on canvas is available.
