Somewhere along the way a lot of
women started believing that sobriety
was something you earned after hitting
rock bottom. A consequence. A last resort.

It’s not.

Sobriety is a choice you get to make
the moment you decide you deserve
better than waking up feeling like that
again. The moment you realize alcohol
is taking more than it’s giving.

You don’t need to lose everything
to choose something better.

You don’t need anyone’s permission.
You don’t need a dramatic story.
You don’t need to have tried and
failed a hundred times first.

You need to decide.

And when you’re ready to make that
decision with a community of women
beside you every single step of the
way, The Sobriety Circle is waiting.

If you’ve been trying to figure out
sobriety on your own let me make
it a little easier.

I’m Courtney Andersen — sobriety
coach, author, and 43 year old mom of a 4.5 year old dictator. I’ve been
living an alcohol-free life since
August 2012. I know firsthand what
it’s like to be a binge and grey area
drinker, spending years stuck in the
moderation cycle before finally
quitting for good.

The Sober Vibes podcast is where
sobriety meets empowerment meets real life.

And yes we laugh too. Because
if you can’t find the humor in this
journey, it’s going to feel a lot
longer than it needs to. Sobriety
doesn’t have to be serious all the
time. We keep it real AND we keep
it fun from time to time.

Each week I dive deep into the
topics that matter most for women
who are sober-curious or ready to
quit drinking for good:

🎙️ How to quit drinking alcohol
🎙️ Managing cravings and triggers
🎙️ Navigating social situations sober
🎙️ Rebuilding confidence and identity
🎙️ Emotional sobriety and nervous
system healing
🎙️ Finding real joy in an alcohol-free life

Whether you’re newly sober, in
long-term recovery, or just sober
curious — Sober Vibes has the
support, strategies, real talk,
and laughs you need.

Need help quitting drinking or staying
sober long-term? The Sober Vibes
podcast is where I share everything,
tune in for your free long-form
support every week. 🎙️

Not drinking is the easy part of sobriety.

The real work starts when you’re sitting
on the couch at night with your feelings.
No glass in your hand. No numbing.
No distractions.

That’s the part nobody prepares you for.

The boredom.
The restlessness.
The emotions that used to get drowned out.

Nothing is wrong with you for finding
that hard. That’s where emotional
sobriety actually lives.

And emotional sobriety isn’t about
willpower. It’s about your nervous
system learning how to regulate itself
without alcohol for the first time
in years.

That takes time. That takes tools.
That takes understanding what’s
actually happening in your body
when the feelings get loud and
there’s nothing to take the edge off.

That’s exactly what we talk about
on the Sober Vibes podcast.

Real conversations about the hard
parts of sobriety that nobody warns
you about. The emotional stuff. The
nervous system stuff. The identity
stuff. All of it.

Need help quitting drinking or staying
sober long-term? The Sober Vibes
podcast is where I share everything tune in for your free long-form
support every week. 🎙️

Nobody told me sobriety would
feel like grief and I know it sounds ridiculous but it’s true.

I thought quitting drinking would
feel like relief. And eventually
it did. But first it felt like loss.

Loss of my social identity. Loss
of my coping mechanism. Loss of
the version of me that didn’t have
to think about any of this.

If you’re a sober-curious woman
and you’re grieving something you
haven’t even given up yet that’s
real. That’s valid. And that’s one
of the most honest parts of choosing
an alcohol-free life that nobody
talks about.

The grief doesn’t mean you made
the wrong choice. It means you’re
human with FEELINGS and thoughts.

On the other side of it is clarity.
Steadiness. A version of yourself
you actually trust.

You don’t have to rush through it.
Just don’t quit on yourself.

If you’re in early sobriety and
need structure and support, grab my
free 30-Day Sober Not Boring Calendar. Comment “30 Day” to grab it.

I quit drinking at 29. Here’s what
nobody told me about the first year.

Not the physical stuff. Everyone
talks about that the better sleep,
the clearer skin, the energy.

I’m talking about the grief. The
identity shift. The moments where
I genuinely didn’t know who I was
without a drink in my hand at a
social event.

Nobody warned me that getting sober
would mean rebuilding almost
everything. Not because sobriety
is hard but because alcohol was my life.

My social confidence. My way of
relaxing. My sense of belonging in
a room full of people drinking. My
idea of what fun even looked like.

All of it had to be rebuilt from
scratch.

What you build in sobriety is real.
It’s yours. It doesn’t come with
shame or a hangover or the creeping
dread of what you said or did the
night before.

If you’re in your first year and
you feel like something is wrong
nothing is wrong. You’re just
becoming someone new and it’s a process.

Here’s what actually helped me
get through it:

⚡️Give yourself permission to grieve.
You don’t have to be grateful every
day. Some days sobriety feels like
loss and that’s okay. Let yourself
feel it without picking up a drink.

⚡️Build your identity around who
you are becoming, not who you were.
Start calling yourself sober/alcohol-free. Start
owning it. The faster you claim the
identity the faster it becomes yours.

⚡️Find your people before you
desperately need them.
Loneliness is one of the biggest
triggers in early sobriety. Community
isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s a
need-to-have.

That last one is exactly why I built
The Sobriety Circle.

A community of women who are quitting
drinking, rebuilding their lives, and
doing it together every single day.

Come “circle” to join.

I hope this post helps you today.

If you’ve ever wondered why quitting drinking feels so hard this is why. ⬇️

It’s called the anxiety-alcohol loop. And it’s one of the most important things a sober-curious woman can understand about her own body.

Here’s how it works:

You feel stressed or anxious.
You drink to take the edge off.
Alcohol works for a moment.
Your nervous system relaxes.
You fall asleep.

But then:

You wake up more anxious than before.
Your nervous system is now fighting to rebalance itself.
The anxiety is louder.
So you drink again to take the edge off.

And the loop continues.

This isn’t a willpower problem. This isn’t a character flaw. This is your nervous system doing exactly what it was trained to do.

Once you understand this loop everything changes. You stop blaming yourself and start understanding yourself. And that’s where real healing begins.

Breaking the loop takes time, tools, and support. It takes building new ways to regulate your nervous system that don’t involve alcohol.

Breathwork. Movement. Journaling. Routine. Community. Rest. Not Drinking.

These aren’t just wellness buzzwords. They are your actual tools for quitting drinking and staying alcohol-free long-term.

If you need help building the structure and routine that supports your sobriety grab my free 30-Day Sober Not Boring Calendar.

It’s a full month of daily activities and support designed to help you fill the spaces alcohol used to occupy.

Comment “30 Day” to grab your copy.

Did you recognize yourself in this loop? If you are out of it, what helped you?⬇️⬇️ by @sober.vibes
