Rounds 8 & 9 of the 2026 SoCal 86Cup Presented by @maxxistires

November 21st and 22nd will see 86Cup return to Chuckwalla Valley Raceway this year for our annual doubleheader weekend! On top of the festivities, we will also be having our annual 86Cup Potluck BBQ at the Chuckwalla cabins shortly after on-track action concludes Saturday night.

For some, this weekend represents a quintessential round in securing their place on the final driver’s championship podium steps. For others, currently seeking the trio at the top of their respective class, this is a great event to (secretly) gain some points if some folks fall asleep at the wheel (metaphorically of course)!

Saturday will be Clockwise and Sunday will be Counterclockwise.

Registration for the track day portion of the weekend is OPEN NOW on the @speedventures website

This weekend sells out every single year without fail so don’t say we didn’t warn you all! Saturday in particular has several competitions happening that day vying for spots on the registration list so don’t miss out!

Round 7 Results of the 2026 86Cup Presented by @maxxistires

Coming off the heels of our last foray at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park excursion, Round 7 saw the 86Cup community tackle the newest track on the compound, Buttonwillow Circuit!

The weather was absolutely brutal for Round 7, being in the high 90s/100s shortly after the first morning session. Needless to say, that did not stop you all from coming out as we had a total of TWENTY-FIVE folks participating in 86Cup after the Buttonwillow dust had settled.

To add to this all, Round 7 was also a part of the inaugural @outrun.timeattack hosted by our friends at @speedventures

This provided a little bit of a different scenario than usual to 86Cup where in lieu of being an extracurricular to HPDE, our participants were subjected to a more true to fashion time attack qualifying and flyer/personal best session style of running in the latter half of the day. We watched the timesheets as per usual and you all did great! Also a special shout out to our 86Cup Stock class folks sweeping the podium in Outrun_06 group. Nicely done!!

@heeltoyota once again wins the @osgiken $100 Modified Fastest Lap of the day! It looks like we’ll need to redo our “IOU” check from last round as he’s so fast he just packs it up early! Come see us next round for your dinero! lol

Rounds 8 and 9 take place at the fabulous Chuckwalla Valley Raceway on November 21st and 22nd with our friends at Speed Ventures.

Also, Saturday night at Chuckwalla we’re hosting our annual 86Cup Potluck BBQ at the cabins!! This is one of the few times we get together to NOT drive so a great chance to relax and just hang with your fellow drivers. Signups for the potluck will be talked about shortly.

***BREAKING***

Round 6 at Buttonwillow Raceway Classic has been moved back one day to SUNDAY, September 13th!

Along with the date change, we were given the opportunity to do a relatively unused configuration so we are taking the chance to do it! We will be driving 1A CCW (yes the A is not a typo).

Plus side is that there should also be relatively less traffic to weave through on Sunday compared to the original Saturday date for this round.

Registration is now open for that weekend via @speedventures ! If you still want to drive 13CW on Saturday, by all means you are more than welcome to get that extra secret seat time in to prepare for Sunday after our LONG summer break! It just won’t be an 86Cup round anymore.

Our website has been updated to reflect everything and our friends in NorCal @86challenge will still be joining us so come out and throwdown!

Round 7 of 2026 @socal86cup at Buttonwillow The Circuit CW! My first time at The Circuit was last year during a thunderstorm ⛈️ Driving the racetrack in heavy rain is one of my most memorable experiences. It also happened to be my very first 86cup event as well! This time around it was the exact opposite, sunny & 100 degrees in October ☀️ 🥵

There was dual event happening with @outrun.timeattack I thought I wasn’t participating but later found out that we signed up by default and the competition was included. Not thinking much of it, I drove anyway and somehow landed 2nd in class lol and placed 3rd in 86cup time trails.

With all that said, it was a successful weekend. I did my best to adapt, had a blast, and it’s always a good time hanging out with other equally delusional drivers wanting to drive circles while sweating in the desert 🏜️

What a gift it is to suffer 100+ degrees and throw down mid laps with your sweaty dehydrated friends, who’s stomachs are all brewing with the team effort of finishing the single order of communal fried cheese curds from the cafeteria (completely optional activity). Hell yea.

First time driving at Buttonwillow Circuit was a huge success! (I consider being able to drive home a win)

Those 423 laps on Out Run sim challenge finally paid off because the feeling of falling short of podium finish was a little too real yesterday. If you know, you know!😆

Circuit is trickier to set a fast laptime let alone find time to shave off the slower the car is. Unlike Chuckwalla, there's lesser corners, more long straights. So every exit from a corner is incredibly crucial to not lose time on the straights!

I gotta give it to @counterspacegarage brake pads withstanding the heat for how harsh this fast track is on brakes.

Really happy that I'm understanding how to maximize the @maxxistires VR2 tires now. They wear better than VR1 and a huge step up from grip.

I gotta make sure to be in Outrun_group6 instead of the faster group_5 AND not formula drift my way through turn 4, so sorry to this clearly faster driver stuck behind me.😭

86Cup Schedule Details for Round 7, 10/3 Buttonwillow Circuit with Outrun Time Attack

If you haven’t already, do your driver registration form for 86Cup! The last time we checked, we had half of the drivers listed on timing. Be sure to do this BEFORE the end of tomorrow so you get counted for 86Cup awards!

It’s going to be a hot one so hydrate as always and more importantly pace yourself! We all want to go home safely at the end of it all.
