Oct 2023. When I first started collecting, it was almost all modern watches. But a few years ago, it really started to become obvious how many people were into vintage, because they would show up wearing them. These days it's like half vintage and half modern. Love that!

Oct 2023. You can wear a gold plated Michael Kors from 20 years ago or a piece-unique perpetual calendar with a custom strap to match the dial. It doesn't matter. As long as you have passion, you are welcome at this table.

Spotted in the wild, in WeHo, a few years ago. I was hosting a #socalwatchcrew get-together at the Britely and only @arkasart showed up, but we had a great time. He had just gotten a new Porsche and we literally hung out for like three hours talking about cars and watches.

When we finally left, this was the guy in front of us in line wearing a Tiffany Blue Patek! He was trying to pick up his... Maybach SUV. Lool. As one does.

You can see some of his two very young girlfriends in the background. Lool. He was like 60. Said he was a producer.

Dude was a class act, too. Very polite. He said the watch was allocated to @miketyson but he passed so he swooped on it, for retail!

I was wearing my vintage Patek and he actually asked to take a pic of mine, which I loved, but then I got to chatting and I COMPLETELY FORGOT to take a pic of the two together. Such a tragedy. But, somewhere out there, on this baller-ass dude's phone, there's a pic of the two coolest Pateks in the world.

Always a good time a Socal Watch Crew events, even when just one person shows up!

Sept 2023. I went to OnlyWatch with one thing in mind: Tudor The One.

I'm not a chronograph guy, but I loved this so much. The Rolex K*ller, haha.

The estimated hammer price started at around $55,000 and I thought, "Why not? I'm definitely going to bid on this watch!" I knew I was going to get outbid, but I thought it would be fun to actually go through with it.

But as many of you know, the 2023 OnlyWatch auction was canceled and I never got a chance to even place a bid. I think it would probably sell for in the millions, but it would have been fun, regardless...

I don't have a picture of it from the side, but it was really tall and thick. I would say that's the main disadvantage of this model. Really clunky on the wrist. So cool to have held a piece of history, though.

And that, folks, is why you join a watch club! To motivate you to go to things like this. Headed to Heritage Auctions later today! This is The Way.

Sept 2023. When OnlyWatch traveled to Los Angeles in 2023 to do a preview showing, it was not to be missed. Literally. It ended up not even happening due to some controversies and many of the amazing one-of-one pieces were pulled and never seen again. Like this true, one-of-one from Audemars Piguet

Created for Only Watch 2023, this Royal Oak Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Openworked paired a white ceramic (real stuff, not that bioceramic plastic crap!) case and bracelet with an openworked Calibre 2972 with gotdang flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock. Jfc, was this thing amazing to behold. Literally. They let me hold it! This is me, holding a $2M watch*** in one hand, while the auctioneer laughed. Epic times with #socalwatchcrew

One of the rarest modern Royal Oaks, and one with a rather unusual story. Probably my favorite modern piece from them.

Maybe one day it'll surface again. It has yet to resurface after OW2023 was canceled.
