What is narrative strategy—and how can stories help organisations create change?

In this episode of Lead with Storytelling, I sit down with Megan Davis to explore how stories shape organisational culture, communication, leadership, and change.

We talk about finding the stories already happening within organisations, why real stories from real people matter, and why business communication is often more emotional than we realise.

A fascinating conversation about listening, culture, and the stories that shape how we work.

Every summer I look forward to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John Big Book Sale this year.

Sharing my book haul from this Sale is also something I look forward to. Here they are:
📖 Lexicon - Max Barry
📖 Wizardborn (Vol 3. Runelords) - David Farland
📖 We Need New Names - NoViolet Bulawayo
📖 Kill and Tell - William X. Kienzle
📖 Seven Surrenders - Ada Palmer
📖 Scales of Gold —Dorothy Dunnett

It helps to have company as well. Do you go to Sales with any expectations or you just wing it, looking to be surprised? I don’t think my budget likes surprises🤣🤣. taken in TD Station by @sochiazuh

I read books as a child, and not only because my mother made me. After we walked through the Queen Prima, she started me on books that invited me into worlds—story worlds full of magic, mystery, and wonder—and instilled in me a great sense of justice.

Here is my list of these books:
Eze Goes to School - Nzekwu Onuora , Michael Crowder
Chike and the River - Chinua Achebe
Ifeanyi and Obi - Charitas Otunyelu
Famous Five - Enid Blyton
Passport of Mallon Ilia - Cyprian Ekwensi
My Fathers Daughter - Mabel Segun

Which books were your favourite? Let me know in the comments. by @sochiazuh

What happens when a journalist who spent years covering tragedy, crime, and community life finally sits down to write her own story?

In this episode of Lead with Storytelling, host Sochi Azuh talks with journalist, storyteller, and author Penelope Alonso about her journey from journalism to fiction and self-publishing.

We talk about “unlearning urgency,” her love of Jane Austen and Regency romance, the magical realism in A Walk with Everyone, and the deeply personal story behind a novel she began writing with her late mother, Sharon.

We also talk about grief, memory, writing rituals, self-publishing on Amazon KDP, and what makes a good story.

In this episode of Lead with Storytelling, host Sochi Azuh sits down with artist, award-winning graphic designer, consultant, creative director, and author Nathan Nicholson to discuss In the Beginning We Create.

They explore creativity, faith, leadership, collaboration, design, rest, and the courage to create—and how these different parts of our lives can work together rather than exist separately.

One quotation cited by Dr. Edoro captures the spirit of the book:

“The Palm-Wine Drinkard is a book that teaches us how to love the forest, as opposed to other texts that showed why we should fear the forest. ... The forest also teaches us how to love the world.”

I found the book refreshing, insightful, intelligent, challenging, and above all informative.

It deepened my appreciation of African literature by providing another way to understand setting and to appreciate the cultural philosophy and literary achievements of African writers.

It is an excellent resource for readers seeking richer intertextual insights into African fiction.

One of the joys of being a reader is sharing that excitement with my kids who are naturally curious.

When my Illumicrate special edition of @mhayinde ‘s Invoker Trilogy arrived, I thought it would be fun to let the kids take over the unboxing. Well, they asked to do it. Their excitement, curiosity, and wonderfully honest reactions reminded me that books don’t just tell stories but also spark conversations.

It’s also a small glimpse behind the scenes of creating book content. From opening beautifully designed editions to filming, reviewing, and sharing what I read, every video begins with moments like these.

Who knows? Maybe one day they’ll be recommending books to me.

Have you ever shared your love of reading with a child? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.

In this episode of Lead with Storytelling, host Sochi Azuh sits down with writer and educator Simone Dalton for a thoughtful and deeply human conversation about writing, identity, migration, memory, and the role of storytelling in making sense of our experiences.

Together, they explore how our voices are shaped by culture, upbringing, and place; the complexities of truth in life writing; and why stories remain essential tools for reflection, connection, and understanding.

One insight from this conversation that continues to resonate is Simone's observation that stories are not luxuries, but one of the ways we metabolize experience.

If you love literature, memoir, creative writing, or conversations that invite us to think more deeply about what it means to be human, we hope you'll join us.
