Completely reimagined. Thoughtfully designed. Created to live beautifully.

There’s something special about an established Las Vegas neighborhood paired with a home that has been completely reimagined for the way we live today. ✨

Located in The Lakes, this single-story residence was extensively renovated in 2024, bringing together warm contemporary design, thoughtful functionality and spaces created for both everyday living and entertaining.

The kitchen is a true centerpiece, anchored by a dramatic granite waterfall island, custom cabinetry, a 6-burner professional gas range and convection oven. Generous workspace and carefully selected finishes make it just as functional as it is beautiful.

The open living and dining spaces flow effortlessly together and are complemented by a custom glass-enclosed office, adding both architectural interest and a dedicated workspace.

The primary suite offers a spa-inspired retreat with an oversized rainfall shower, matte-black herringbone tile, warm brass finishes, built-in bench and European towel warmer. 🛁

Outside, a custom black-bottom saltwater pool, raised spillover spa and gas BBQ create a private setting for entertaining, relaxing and enjoying Las Vegas living year-round.

Additional features include:
- Fully paid solar ☀️
- Two dedicated 220V EV connections ⚡
- Security camera coverage.

Today, at a Women in Medicine event, EM RISE’s Krista Whitley, Lead Research Assistant with the UMC Emergency Medicine Research Assistant Program, got to share some pretty incredible news: today, she received her first medical school acceptance. 🩺❤️

It’s early in the application cycle, and hopefully there are more opportunities ahead. But for Krista, this journey has never really been about an acceptance letter.

It has been about the people.

The residents, physicians, nurses, research assistants, faculty, and entire UMC team who show up every day for people experiencing some of the worst moments of their lives. The people who teach, mentor, challenge, encourage, and demonstrate what it truly means to serve a community.

Working alongside them has inspired Krista to do more, learn more, and give back more.

She’ll be 47 when she starts medical school and well into her 50s when she finishes residency. This may be a second career, but it is one deeply rooted in a commitment to spend the rest of her life serving others.

Today, that dream became a little more real.

Congratulations, Krista. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes you. ❤️🩺

🎂 Kai’s request for his birthday was that we spend it together in Zurich at the Lindt chocolate factory, so off we went. Well, it did not disappoint. The sweetest moments in my life are the ones with my most favorite people right here. I can confirm beer is beer 🍻 and I’m not a beer girlie. Chocolate 🍫 is thankfully chocolate and I am absolutely a chocolate girlie. Exploring the world with these incredible humans fuels my soul. Infinitely grateful for my family. 💛 taken in Lindt Home of Chocolate by @socialkrista

🦒 🐘 🐊 🦛 While I was in Tanzania I had the opportunity to experience my first safari in Saadani National Park. It is Tanzania’s only wildlife sanctuary bordering the Indian Ocean, spanning 1,062 square kilometers, where the bush meets palm-lined coastal beaches. We saw giraffe, Nile crocodile, hippos, elephants, monkeys, Wildebeast, antelopes, and baboons. What a once in a lifetime experience! taken in Saadani National Park by @socialkrista

I started my summer in Zanzibar, Tanzania 🇹🇿 conducting field research with UNICEF as part of my NYU Global Health program. It was my first time in Africa, and while I expected to learn about public health systems, I never imagined how profoundly the experience would change me. One phrase became the theme of the journey: ‘Good fieldwork should leave us with better questions, not just more answers.’
One if the greatest gifts came outside our formal fieldwork. An NYU classmate of mine welcomed me into her family’s village outside of Bagamoyo, where I experienced everyday life through the eyes of the people who call it home. 🛖During one field research visit a woman quietly shared, ‘This river gives me no peace.’ 💦 Those 6 words have stayed with me. They remind me that behind every statistic is a human story. 💛
In another conversation, as women began sharing their experiences, a man interrupted and said: ‘Don’t listen to the women. They don’t have anything to contribute.’ It was difficult to hear, but it reminded me that improving health is never just about medicine. It is also about culture, power, history, and listening to voices that are too often ignored.
Before leaving, I delivered a 65lb trunk full of supplies to the local village school: pencils, knee socks, basic items to do what I could. After dragging it through airports and across continents, I was convinced I had overdone it. Then I arrived at this rural school serving 150 students who were learning the internet without WiFi or a smart phone or computer and I felt like I should have hauled so much more with me. The gratitude was overwhelming.
Africa challenged assumptions I did not even know I had. I fell in love with the warmth, resilience, generosity, and joy of the people I met. I arrived hoping to contribute in some small way and left realizing I had received so much more than I had given.
As I continue my journey toward emergency medicine and global health, I hope I never lose the humility this experience gave me. Some of the most important lessons are learned by listening. And, if we’re fortunate, good fieldwork leaves us with better questions, not just more answers.

THAILAND: What’s one book that has changed your life? My passport.

🐘 It started with an elephant documentary. That led to a Jan term solo trip that turned into a bestie adventure. That led to me wondering if Thai massage is just as good in Thailand. 💆🏻‍♀️ And I wonder if Thai food is as delicious in Thailand. 🍜 So, we set out to find out. First, Bangkok. Then, Koh Samui. Finally, Phuket. Here’s what I learned.

🛍️ BANGKOK: I did not expect the shopping to be so exceptional. Don’t sleep on MBK. Explore Central World. Indulge in Let’s Relax Thai Massage. My friend from Singapore says you should bring an empty suitcase.

💆🏻‍♀️ THAI MASSAGE: The Thai massage is insanely good in Thailand. 100BAHT is currently about $3.18USD and an hour will run you around 500-800BAHT. Add the Thai herbal compress because it’s so worth it.

🍜 THAI FOOD: You aren’t ready. Spring rolls, Mango sticky rice, Phad Thai, Pineapple fried rice. The price is unreal (180-350BAHT) and the ingredients are insanely fresh. When in Thailand, eat Thai food.

☀️ 👙 🌴 BEACH: Hit the islands. Get off the beaten path. Thalang Road in Old Town Phuket is great, but soaking up the sunset at Air Bar in Koh Samui is better.

🐷 🐐 🐱 🐅 🐘 ANIMALS: If you love animals, you came to the right place. Now, just don’t be an a**hole about it. Don’t get a selfie with a drugged up tiger. Don’t do a photo shoot bathing with an elephant or ride one. Choose to support ethical animal tourism that prioritizes the health of the animals. During our visit we saw pigs, cats, elephants, and one glamorous goat.

REBEL FOR LIFE: I did a thing these last few years that I didn’t tell many people about. One night after I retired from that CEO life, Kai said, “Dad has his master’s, Bella is getting her PhD, and I’m going to be a doctor, so are you just going to make us dinner every night?” That was November 2022. That night I applied to CSN, thrilled when I got accepted. I started in January 2023 and kept it quiet because I wasn’t sure how well I’d do.

My first semester I took Calculus I, Political Science, English 101, Medical Terminology, and Physics. When I picked up my Physics books, the guy at the counter warned me it was a hard class. I earned a 4.0 GPA anyway and applied to the National Science Foundation S-STEM Scholar program, thinking there was no way they’d accept me. They did.

It took me 43 years to start college, and in less than 2½ years I graduated Magna Cum Laude from UNLV with a Bachelor of Science and Public Health minor. I joined a Comparative Physiology lab caring for tenrecs and possums, became a Lead Research Assistant in the UMC Emergency Department, spent a semester working with the unhoused population, and another on food insecurity at the UNLV food bank. I met students whose struggles I felt firsthand, something I could never have experienced by staying home.

Along the way, I inspired many non-traditional students, but it was Kai and Bella crying at my commencement who kept me going. It was Dwayne encouraging me, and my cousin Kendra teaching me how to study 25 years after high school.

Now I am at NYU with a merit scholarship, earning my MPH in Global Health. I’m 45 now and will be 47 when I finish. I even took the MCAT and am applying to medical school, which will put me in my early to mid-50s at completion.

Here’s the thing: time will pass anyway. Fill it with things that challenge you, spark curiosity, and fuel your soul. UNLV calls it being a REBEL FOR LIFE, and I truly am one.

#DTLV So, it started in a single wide trailer. On a dirt lot. This crazy entrepreneur would use his connections to bring leaders from around the world to come speak to the community: the wanna be entrepreneurs, the hustlers trying to create something great, all of us trying to do something bigger than ourselves for the world. You’d sit there in your chair, take notes, get inspired, have your mind blown, and you’d grow. That’s what Tony Hsieh did better than any leader I ever met: he knew how to deliver happiness. And for entrepreneurs, creatives, for so many of us that meant growth in ways we never imagined.

His greatest impact wasn’t on the adults, though. It was in the lives of the children he inspired. It’s riding the Alice in Wonderland bus to First Friday while talking art with Bella and, eventually, spending $100 on one of her paintings when she got her own First Friday booth. It’s funding exceptional educational opportunities like 9th Bridge School that shared the wonder of Burning Man with children. As a mother, I learned work life immersion from his example. It’s not about work life balance. It’s about raising my children immersed in my work, which has led to them attending Women Grow events, PRIDE parades, and being in the front row every time I spoke.

His leadership was inclusive: he included everyone and encouraged the community to attend Zappos.com events. He was crazy accessible and responsive: to emails, on the streets of downtown Las Vegas, any time you wanted to give your two cents.

Thank you for your leadership by example Tony. Thank you for inspiring all of us and making us better. Thank you for all that you gave. You are gone far too soon and your legacy will live on for generations. Rest In Peace.
