Spring in Australia is a two-outfit day.
Cold at 7am, warm by 2pm, and nobody agrees on what to wear.

Mental Health Month is a good excuse to look at who a man actually has around him, because the research says it matters more than most of us act like it does.
Most of the numbers in this carousel show how common this is.
The one that stays with me is the quieter one: men who lacked close friends or family were around twice as likely to have thought about suicide in the past year.
That’s a link, not a verdict, but it’s one worth taking seriously.
What I keep coming back to is how small the answer sounds. It isn’t a program or a big gesture.
It’s a text with no agenda, or asking “how are you?” a second time when the first answer was “yeah, good.”
This year’s theme, Together We Thrive, is really just that, done on purpose and done early.

So here’s a question for the comments. Who in your life would notice if you went quiet?
And who are you quietly keeping an eye on?

October is Mental Health Month in Australia.
This year’s national theme is Together We Thrive.

For a long time I was the opposite of that theme and nobody could tell.
Good job, steady routine, always “yeah, all good.” I thought that was strength.
It was surviving, and nobody was close enough to see the difference.

That’s why this month matters to me more than most.
World Mental Health Day lands on Saturday the 10th, and we’ll be sharing more through October, including the full blog piece on The Movement.

For now, one question. Who is the one person who knows how you’re really going?
If the answer came quickly, tell them this week that they’re that person.
If it didn’t, that’s your starting point.

The footy season worked because none of you had to organise anything.
Same time, same pub, every week, for six months.
Nobody had to be the one who suggests it.

That’s gone now, and here’s the honest bit: “we should catch up soon” has never once turned into an actual plan on its own.
It just sits in the group chat until someone finally gives up waiting.

So don’t wait. Build your own version of the fixture.
Doesn’t need to be footy-sized, just something recurring, something nobody has to negotiate every single time.
A standing Wednesday session. A monthly game of something. First Saturday of the month, out fishing.

Pick one this week and actually lock it in.
