This is what we love to see! Our Partner, Christopher O. Koon, bringing his message to a room full of industry leaders.

Chris recently took the stage at the Farm Bureau Financial Services Annual Conference in Kansas City and brought back a message we couldn’t agree with more.

Relationships are built through consistency and genuine connection. Pick up the phone. Reach out. Put yourself in the room with people you want to know. Not every conversation has to immediately turn into business. Sometimes the goal is simply to start a friendship, be a resource, and stay connected.

Chris has always made it a priority to get out to events like this — to be around great people and great ideas, to learn how other successful leaders are building relationships, leading, and growing their businesses, and to come back with something he can put into practice and share with the rest of us.

A few key points Chris shared from stage:
- “I’m not in the relationship replacement business.”
- “I’m not here to replace a relationship. I’m here to build one and be a resource.”
- “We’re all busy. Give me 15 or 20 minutes. Maybe we start a friendship, or maybe we find an opportunity to positively impact you and your family.”

Don’t underestimate the value of simply reaching out. You don’t need every interaction to have an immediate business outcome. Get in the room, meet great people, ask for the conversation, and focus on becoming someone they know and trust. The relationship can come first. The opportunity may follow.

That’s the way Chris operates, and we’re lucky to have him leading by example. Congrats, Chris — keep building.

That was the heart of our Women & Wealth event in Saint Louis, where our Partner Michelle Magner, CLU®, ChFC®, CASL®, RICP®, and our Director of Marketing Jessica Schmitt led a conversation on the five levers that matter more than investment returns: career & income strategy, family CFO decisions, tax strategy, risk management, and estate planning.

Here are a few highlights we don't talk about enough: The compounding impact of your income over a 30-year career dwarfs almost any investment return. Taxes are the one bill we pay that we have the most ability to influence, yet we often treat them like a passive event that happens to us every April. And estate planning isn't about death. It's about clarity and control, for you right now, and for the people you love.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and made this such a meaningful afternoon. The energy in that room was something special, and we're excited to keep this momentum going.

Some weeks you tee off. Some weeks you climb 75 flights of stairs. We did both and it reminded us why we do this in the first place.

Second year at the Dolores Mission Golf Tournament, and for the first time ever, every graduate headed off to college with a laptop. Additionally, for years supporting the YMCA Stair Climb, the Socium Advisors team placed first in corporate fundraising, raising almost $13,000. John has supported the Stair Climb for the last 15 years. Milestones worth showing up for, and we're already looking forward to next year.
