A few weeks ago, there was a prints fair at the cathedral and I’d spotted some really cool prints. Unfortunately it was just before payday. However today was a makers market event and the same artist was present here too.
Glad to bring home this little guy. He made me laugh when I first saw him. Just need to find wall space.

When visiting @chester_cathedral it’s easy to be overwhelmed by absolutely everything there. Due to the age of the building, there’s hundreds of years worth of history that you can be forgiven for overlooking something. Have you ever spotted this though and wondered what it is? Relatively young in age compared to well practically everything else in there, this is a Gurney stove. Used for heating large spaces like cathedrals and churches. It features 24 cast-iron external ribs designed to increase surface area for better heat transfer. The heater was patented in 1856 by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney. Designed to heat massive spaces efficiently, its signature deep vertical ribs vastly increase surface area while the base rests in a water trough to add comforting humidity to the warm air. by @sock_monsta

In the Chapel of St Erasmus, you will find marble bust of Thomas Brassey, a prominent 19th-century English civil engineer known for building railways across the globe.
Born close to Saighton, Chester.
The bust was sculpted by Irish sculptor John Edward Jones (1806–1862) by @sock_monsta

I’ve noticed there seems to be interest in Misericords so thought I’d see if there were any examples in the Cathedral. I was not disappointed! There’s some fantastic Miseriecords in the Choir. While I only photographed a couple, there’s 48 in total.
They are situated in the holiest central section of the cathedral, forming part of the 14th-century choir stalls. To view the carvings, the hinged seats must be tipped up. 43 of these are the original 14th-century carvings (dating to around 1380), while five were added later.Noteworthy Carvings: They are highly celebrated for their intricate details, featuring mythical beasts, the Tree of Jesse, and local legends. Spotted this in Chester towards the end of the day. Apparently it was in Ellesmere Port and on its way to its next location. Im surprised it didn’t spend time in front of the Cathedral like the knife Angel did. Still, it’s interesting to see a sculpture made up of guns and blades by @sock_monsta

Tried @guroma_uk ‘s cheesy naan melts. I opted for the chicken while my kid opted for the lamb and omg best naan I’ve ever had. We decided to swap half so we could enjoy both flavours. I honestly thought I knew my street food but where has this been hiding all my life?! Never tasted anything like it and now I can’t stop thinking about it. Gonna have to abandon my bhaji wraps by @sock_monsta
