At sea, borders begin to fade. What remains are the gestures, the craftsmanship, and the stories passed from one shore to another.

Inspired by French maritime traditions and the heritage of Javanese coastal communities, where the sea shapes daily life, labour, and rituals such as Sedekah Laut, a ceremony expressing gratitude and respect for the ocean. Au Large reimagines French maritime dress codes through a contemporary lens, enriched by Javanese craftsmanship. Featuring handcrafted batik with abstract, philosophical sea-inspired motifs developed in Mojokerto and checkered meets French maritime stripes, sarong-inspired batik developed in Pekalongan are translated into sculptural, fluid, and experimental silhouettes.

Au Large / Offshore is a co-designed collection by Lisa Rayar @lisarayar.studio ,a French fashion designer exploring Asian textile heritage through contemporary fashion, and Gabriel Marcella @gabrielm_la ,founder of Soedisoei @soedisoei and a menswear fashion designer based in Semarang, Indonesia.
