I can honestly say this was the best way to start out my trip! The atmosphere and the cuisine were soooo amazing! You definitely have to stop in when she is in the building. She was the vibe starting my trip so I made a quick trip back before leaving. I messaged her that I wouldn’t have to much time but wanted to stop by… she replied let me know what you want to eat I’ll have it together by the time you get here! Whaaaaa! Of course she had the farewell shot on deck! This was the highlight of my trip truly! If you don’t stop by when you’re in Lisbon you’re missing out! Saturday, I visited @sofia.s.place, an iconic restaurant I had seen on Instagram, and it definitely did not disappoint! The food was excellent, but what made the night truly special were the people I met.

I met an inspiring young lady who was traveling the world and gave me some great advice. I actually invited her to sit and eat with me, and I’m so glad I did! I also met a family from Jersey who had recently relocated, along with amazing people from Atlanta, New York, and Liberia. We talked, laughed, shared experiences, and made connections as if we had known each other for years.

Then the beautiful Sofia herself shared her testimony with us—and kept the good times going with shotsssssss of rum! 😂🥃 After dinner, some of us continued the night at an Afrobeats party! 🔥🕺🏾💃🏾

This is why I love solo travel. I get to do what I want, meet amazing people, make genuine connections, and simply enjoy doing what I love—traveling, experiencing new cultures, eating great food, and making memories! 🌍❤️

When I travel I’m always in search of black owned businesses. So grateful to meet this Queen! Sofia, owner of @sofia.s.place in Lisboa. So generous and personable. One of the best meals I had in Lisbon wasn’t just about the food, it was about the feeling.

Sofia’s Place is a Black-owned, Cape Verdean restaurant that celebrates the richness of the African diaspora through every dish. From Senegal to Cabo Verde to Gambia and even Colombia! The menu tells a story, but it’s Sofia’s warmth and hospitality that make you feel like you’ve found home.

Every plate was made with so much care, every conversation felt genuine, and by the end of the meal, we were sharing Cape Verdean rum and laughing like old friends.

These are the places I travel for. The ones where culture, community, and incredible food come together around one table.

If you’re heading to Lisbon, make the reservation. I promise you’ll leave with more than just a great meal. 🤍🇨🇻

I had some awesome food in Lisbon but I want to make very special mention of the wonderful spirit Sofia from @sofia.s.place Apart from being Black owned and the food being DELICIOUS (we went back a second time) Sofia’s hospitality was outstanding, her establishment was cozy like home, and her hugs are warm and welcoming! I highly recommend @sofia.s.place if you are ever visiting Lisbon and would like to experience this spectacular treat!
