POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This past week I have had an enormous pleasure to attend the NY premiere and release of @anorafilm, a film I had the immense honor and privilege of working on. The premiere and party gave us the chance to celebrate the infinite hard work and effort the cast and crew put towards supporting @bakermovies in achieving his vision, which ultimately was a work of true genius and of pure heart.
The film spotlights a brief moment in the life of a sex worker with complete honesty and vulnerability in a line of work that is largely misunderstood and misrepresented, hopefully paving the way for films for sex workers *by* sex workers to develop and flourish in the future.
I want to thank the dedicated AD/PA team who put their hearts and souls every day into this feature:
line producer @oli_jo
1st AD @pretty.vritti
2nd 2nd AD @allyoursins
PAs @ghost_wolfpup @shawds @rudig_97 @jagreen1 @ryanchenderson @tristankozul @angielischt
The talented DP @drewalandaniels who visually told a gorgeous, unique, and original story in film
The incredibly talented and hard working hair, makeup, and wardrobe team @anniemarjoriejohnson @jmkowski @calliecamgram @jocelynpierce @jonieelizabeth @murrie_________
and of course @sammylquan and @bakermovies for giving us all this once in a lifetime opportunity. Without you, we don’t exist.

After a year in the festival circuit, I’m finally making public my short film, El Funeral. Here is a brief moment in the enormous Venezuelan diaspora of two siblings who attend their grandfather’s funeral at a distance, showing a fresh point of view of the effects of immigration, and our relationship to our past.
In a world that has constant tendencies to reject migrants, it’s more important than ever to tell our stories, dodging stereotypes and anchoring ourselves in lived experience, with a touch of magic.
If you have 20 minutes, please watch! It is linked in my bio. There is a version with English subtitles, and one with Spanish ones.

This past weekend, I had the honor and pleasure to join @bakermovies in receiving the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film prize at the 77th Annual DGA Awards as part of his directorial team, alongside @pretty.vritti @allyoursins @oli_jo and @rossbrodar3
It was a privilege to be amongst so much talent, the best of the best in filmmaking, and I am immensely proud of this accomplishment, which is not possible without the insanely talented PA team that was the glue to our production: Angelo Chammah, @tristankozul, @rudig_97, Jackson Griffin, @shawds, @ghost_wolfpup, @jagreen1, @ryanchenderson—we share this award with you.
I feel so lucky to have gotten this experience, and so eternally grateful for the mountains of support from my family and friends, who are with me at every single step.
Finally, I want to recognize my Venezuelan compatriots, honestly everything I do is for you, and every single one of my achievements is yours. Pa’lante forever.

********

Finalmente, quiero reconocer a mis compatriotas venezolanos.

A couple of weeks and film rolls developed later, still in bliss over the @festivaldecannes where The Man I Love, @themanilovefilm, a gorgeous film by @irasachsfilm premiered.
What an honor to be able to attend the Mecca of independent filmmaking and share such a beautiful space with the most inspiring, accomplished, and creative minds in our field.
Especially thankful to our wonderful producers @putshki @msprete @theotaplitzfilms who gave us the opportunity to attend, and to our talented AD team without whom this project would be impossible:
