Live on @worldwide.fm in a couple of hours with a set recorded earlier this month at Gottwood, when I got the chance to play at Love Ensemble Sound System x Pondlife Yurt ❤️

This ended up being a set that feels like a really good representation of LUAR. I’d brought a bag of records and started pulling out some of the things I play there a lot. The energy in the yurt was insane: the loveliest crew, dancers fully in it, feeling of celebration. Something really special happened in that space, and it’s honestly hard to put into words. It reminded me exactly why this little labour of love is so worth it.

Feeling very lucky to have played on the Love Ensemble soundsystem, built with so much love and care by two dear friends (@joss_stoddart_studio & @humblebflat). It was one of those moments where so many special pieces came together, and it ended up being my favourite gig I’ve played so far. The sound, the crew, the steeeez (@edieashley 🫶), everything around it just made it so easy to play freely.

Thank you @zaereo for the invite to WWFM, and for letting me represent @luarlisboa ~ a collective party that keeps growing through all the friends who collaborate and make the space what it is.

end of a season for @luarlisbon , and it feels meaningful to close this chapter with the friends who’ve helped hold it all together 💜

grateful to everyone who has played, danced, helped, asked, shared, shown up, and stayed close. luar began in a harsh moment, after having to let go of something I’d poured years of care, work, and love into. starting another party from scratch didn’t feel light or fair even. from the beginning, there were doubts, complications, and persistent questions about identity and whether there was even space for it.

it doesn’t really feel like there is. and when you try to make space, it gets questioned. it showed how space in music is still tightly held by the same people and the same old rules. everyone’s welcome, but only if you assist or help maintain things as they are. speak your truth, and suddenly your relevance is measured and support disappears. even something as simple as trying to do a party differently reveals how deeply these dynamics run.

living in a world that celebrates homogeneity makes everything harder and leaves little space for actual community. but reflecting on the legacy of those who shaped dance music has helped keep luar grounded. its also been a reminder of how that history has been commodified, with many spaces now repeating the very dynamics they once existed to resist.

love and respect to the places that inspired this journey in different ways. Mancuso’s Loft, @thenycdownlow , @beautyandthebeatldn and to anyone still holding this culture with care.

six parties in, through venue changes, uncertainty, letting go, and adapting, it’s been a year of finding rhythm. being excited for what’s next means a lot, and it’s thanks to the friends and spaces that have made this ride so intensely beautiful, turning it into a craft of joy and resistance ♥️

closing the season with them feels right. we’ll start early with an art fair by some incredible artists, followed by a live concert by @pauloedson__ , then indoors with two of the funniest and best souls I know, @andre.zuccolo & @andregranada behind the decks.

Getting some records together ~ a few extras I brought back from Brazil and others from my own collection. A mix of samba, jazz, balearic, house, ambient, reggae… all pretty dear to me and have joined me for many parties and special moments over the years.

I’ll be letting a few go to make space for new ones, and I’ll be at Mercado de Arroios all weekend starting today. Thank you @a_record_a_day_ ✨ If you’re around, come say hi and have a dig :) Would love for them to end up with people who’ll enjoy them as much as I have. Back in Lisbon after a month in Brazil, where I got to dig a bunch of records and somehow managed to bring almost 100 back with me. Funny timing as @valentinecomar invited me to record a show around then for @worldwide.fm , and it’s now up on Mixcloud if you feel like listening 🦚

Grateful for all the new discoveries, catching up with old friends, meeting new ones, family love, blurry film, the very last bloco, and all the lessons this place keeps teaching me about dealing with chaos and perrengues with so much grace and style. After a weekend full of music in good company ~ dancing in between brilliant corners, beauty and the beat, and giant steps ~ feeling energised and excited to head to @glastofest . I’ll be playing at Terminal 1 stage, from 6:30-8pm on Friday 🪐

This week, I recorded a mix for @radioalhara ~ thanks to @sib_son ‘s monthly show. Feeling fortunate to be able to share some of the music here. Much love and respect to Radio Alhara, for their dedication to keeping music and awareness at the core. 7 pm in Bethlehem / 6 pm in Lisbon and London.
