"Memory is not an abstract concept; it has the weight of stone, the smell of dirty snow, the mud sticking to boots along border paths."

This review by Lorenzo Mazzoni, published in "Il Fatto Quotidiano," presents us with three book recommendations that explore memory and make us think about the way it shapes who we are.

One of these books is "Yozhi Lives Here" by @nadyaradulova.

Mazzoni points out beautifully the unique way these concepts are represented in the book: "the past is not archived, but continues to have repercussions in the future. Radulova explores the fractured nature of memory and the trauma passed from one generation to the next through minimal gestures: empty milk cans on a sleigh, banned songs sung softly, objects and words that outlast political systems."

The book has reached Italian readers thanks to @bartaedizioni. by @sofialiteraryagency

During the festival, guests could attend public readings and meet authors at 29 different locations around the city.

One of the meetings was with Yordan Slaveykov, who presented his short-story collection "The Holiday Family," translated into Czech by Jan Machej and published by Nakladatelství Runa.

On the same day, the @noc_literatury Night of Literarure took place in Prague as well. The Bulgarian Cultural Institute held a public reading of Slaveykov's story collection in Czech, which also included a translation in sign language. by @sofialiteraryagency

We're happy to share with you the impressive project @cela_europe - Connecting Emerging Literary Artists, aiming to popularise underrepresented European literature within the ecosystem.

The goal of the platform is to build a growing network of literary artists across Europe through translation and to promote literary works. The project opens up opportunities for writers and translators to reach European audiences beyond borders. CELA exists to celebrate and sustain diversity in European literature, offering smaller languages a greater presence in the publishing industry.

The platform offers easy access to current literary events across Europe, the latest news from the literary world, the names of translators and authors, and sample readings in different languages.

Among some of the current talents featured on the platform are authors from our own catalogue, such as @nataliedelmar and @kamellia.x , as well as the translators who help bring Bulgarian works to international audiences.

Next Page Foundation is among the partners who have made this project possible.

While the @buchmesse Frankfurt Book Fair is in full swing, let's look back at some of our authors' adventures around the world recently.

@petyakokudeva was a guest at the second edition of the @festivalul_apolodor Children's Book Festival, which took place from 17 to 20 September in Botoșani, Romania. There, she met with children in the city library.

During the festival, Petya also had an interview with Nona Rapotan for Bookhub.ro, a major online cultural and literary magazine and community hub dedicated to the arts.
The interview is an honest conversation about the stories behind the main characters in the book "Lupo and Tumba," the motivation behind being a children's writer, human relationships, and... Inspiration.

La NOD Festival, întâlnirea dintre Rene Karabash și cititorii ei a continuat mult după discuția de pe scenă. Autoarea și-a făcut timp să schimbe câteva gânduri cu fiecare dintre cei care au venit să-i ceară un autograf.
Astfel, volumele cu care cititorii au plecat acasă au purtat mai mult decât semnătura ei, au luat cu ele amintirea unei conversații și emoția de a cunoaște, în sfârșit, un om pe care îți doreai de mult să-l întâlnești. 🧡💙
