You don’t have to run the same distance to have the same FUN day… especially when the finish line involves Ghirardelli Hot Cocoa 🍫🏃‍♀️🏃 #GhirardelliPartner I did the 10K, he did the 15K, and it ended up being such a fun morning because we each got to choose the distance that made sense for us and still experience the whole day together. Big crowd energy, great swag, the cutest chocolate bar finisher medal, and then the ultimate finish line reward: the fondue mug + Ghirardelli Hot Cocoa at the Cocoa Club 🍫 I also LOVE that Hot Chocolate Run has a 5K, 10K and 15K, so you can make a day of it with a friend, family member or partner without having to match each other’s training or goals. Would absolutely do this one again 🙌🏽 Send this to the person you’d run this with! There are Hot Chocolate Runs in cities all over the country. @hotchocolaterunseries @ghirardelli #hotchocolaterun by @sofiamariexplores

REEL 1 OF 2: I talked myself out of playing golf alone for almost 2 YEARS. Then I FINALLY DID IT this week! My first thought after was… why did I wait so long? The fear took up way more space than it needed to and I kind of hate that I gave the fear that much time. I’ve only played golf with at least one friend with me, never as the “single” with strangers. I mean you can sense the anxiety pouring out of me in the pre-round video you see here… the almost crash out was real! Making the tee time was the first big step where I held my breath and hesitated before booking it. I got nauseated when I drove to the course 🥴. But getting there an hour early (which is my usual) so I could check in, use the bathroom and warm up, made it seem like just another round. It REALLY HELPED. I ended up being paired with a super cool and chill guy and eventually a teenager (who was really good at golf) joined us and it was such a blast from the start. I didn’t tell him it was my first time playing solo, as that would have probably got in my head. Y’all I had some good shots, some bad shots, some blow-up holes and 4 putts 🤣 YET I had SUCH a great time watching the sun go down and even getting a little rained on while playing my own game alongside these two. The testament to this is the TOTAL VIBE SWITCH UP in my post-round video 🤯 I literally am booking my next solo round now. I’m obsessed. I wish I would have gone sooner! If there’s something you keep waiting to feel ready for, or good enough for, maybe go before you feel ready! Just be prepared to pick up your ball in honor of keeping “pace of play. There’s no shame in that 😇. We’re all figuring out this game together 🫶🏽 New to golf and scared to play alone? Follow @sofiamariexplores. I’ll keep doing the scary golf stuff first and showing you what it’s really like so you know you can do it too. . . . #golfisfun #golfgirl #girlswhogolf #golfersofinstagram #ilovegolf by @sofiamariexplores
bc the vibe / face / weather switch up is palpable fr but that’s marathon training, some runs just AINT IT 😂 it’s crazy how good I felt right after the half marathon I ran last weekend (longer mileage and 30 seconds quicker per mile) versus this shorter and slower run. I need to be kinder to myself though since rn im trying to get better from some random lingering sickness, probably still recovering from the Nike After Dark race last weekend, and being back at altitude. Just proof that progression isn’t always linear! I also am experimenting with gel timing: I took a gel every 30 minutes during this run, but had lower “lows” in between gels…. I’m going to try a gel every 25 minutes on the next long run I do to see if it helps keep me at a more neutral energy level. QUESTION: For the runners out there, how do you space your gels out?? 👀 Running bits I swear by: Sunglasses: @smithoptics Sports bra: @newbalancerunning Shorts: @bandit Shoes: @newbalancerunning Watch: @garminrunning Heart rate monitor: @corosglobal Socks: @feetures Handheld water bottle: @nathansportsinc Earbud (bc I lost one 😭): @shokzusa ✨ Follow @sofiamariexplores for the marathon training journey, amateur hour golf, and the side quests in between. #runnergirl #runningcommunity #runnerofinstagram #marathontraining #runningforlife marathon half marathon running runner training sofiamariexplores by @sofiamariexplores

Week 4 of the Houston Marathon build, and somehow one little golf activity I looked at sent me straight back to Oregon. @shareaura logged 27.2 miles that week between running, walking and golf (I rode in a cart for that 9.7 miles thooo bc 💅🏽) When I saw the golf videos I attached to the activities, I immediately started missing Sunriver. Oregon is genuinely one of my happy places in the entirety of the US and I’m still thinking about that trip… despite it being pretty cold and having to layer an insane amount of clothing, but it was beautiful and such a lucky thing that’s happened to me. The funniest part is that I only ended up there because I entered a giveaway and WON it, which still feels a little insane to say (bc who actually wins stuff?!) But the number that actually stood out to me this week was 2.5 miles. A month ago, posting a 2.5 mile run honestly felt a little embarrassing. Like I needed to explain why it was “only” 2.5. This time I intentionally chose a slower build in my @endorphinsrunning training app (it’s a toggled option) because after all the little niggles and injury stuff earlier this year, I was nervous about doing too much too fast. And now the 2.5 and 3.0 miles aren’t something I feel like I need to justify. It’s just one small piece of a much bigger week. EXCEPT NOT FOR LONGGGGG What’s one run from your week you’re proud of, even if it felt “small”? 👉🏽Follow @sofiamariexplores for the Houston build, golf quests + whatever else somehow becomes part of the mileage. When the hard case lost TWO “hard” buckles in transit 💀 So yes, part of our golf trip itinerary unexpectedly became: find duct tape in the small town of Sunriver, Oregon. Good news: they do, in fact, have a hardware store. Meanwhile, my gifted @sundaygolf Coaster Travel Bag made it there AND back basically untouched… with my driver inside, and mine is one of the ones where you can’t even remove the head 🙈 And because I am an AirTag fanatic, the hidden AirTag pocket built into the bag was very much appreciated. I checked it an extremely normal number of times 👀 First golf trip taught me a lot. Mostly that “hard case” is apparently a suggestion. And always enter giveaways because you may just WIN! send this to your running bestie… or the friend who will pace you like it’s their own goal 🥹 We all showed up wanting completely different things from the day (after we all flew halfway across the country!) I went into it calling it a fun run and honestly just wanted to finish feeling good (and not asking myself “am I reinjured?”) One of us was chasing a PR. One of us was there to pace, coach, cheer, and somehow ended up having one of her most “pure fun” race experiences in a long time. And then somehow two of us walked away with PRs… both of us with ONE minute PR’s! 🙌🏽 Which feels very on brand for a day where none of us needed the same goal to have the same reason to celebrate, with each other 🫶🏽 Running friends really are the best kind of people, and I’ve only been a part of the running community for the last 3 years 🤯 Send this to the person you’d want next to you at the start line, the cheer line, or the finish line! ❤️ Follow @sofiamariexplores for running and golf inspo + figuring it all out as I go 🏃🏻‍♀️ ⛳️ 🎉 Shoutout to @newbalancerunning @newbalance for having the best race day fits! And also to @farfieldbeer for being a super quick uber ride from the El Camino College shuttle station post race (there was nothing even remotely walking distance in that area), who had the BEST vibes, music, and beer and welcomed us sweaty girlies in need of a celebratory beverage 🎉 . . . #runnergirl #runningcommunity #runnerofinstagram marathontraining #runningforlife #nikeafterdark marathon half marathon running runner training sofiamariexplores nikeafterdarktourla nikeafterdarktourlosangeles nikeafterdarktour by @sofiamariexplores
