And that’s a wrap on my MA in Music and Sound Design @uniofgreenwich

I am so proud of my final project ‘Her Garden of Voices: An Interactive Musical Ecosystem’ and couldn’t be happier with the final installation 🪴

Thank you so much to everyone who came to see it on the opening night, and to anyone who has had a chance to interact with the project 💖

This is by far one of the hardest things I’ve ever done but I’m so proud of everything I’ve achieved. Designing an interactive sound installation that incorporates Arduino technology and plant biodata for musical composition is something I never thought I’d be capable of, so I’m absolutely thrilled at how amazing it turned out! 🎉 taken in University of Greenwich by @sofiapescomusic

Introducing ‘Her Garden of Voices: An Interactive Musical Ecosystem’ 🪴🎶

As part of my Major Project for my Music and Sound Design MA I have been exploring Arduino microcontrollers and their use for plant-biodata capture and musical composition.

‘Her Garden of Voices’ uses two custom-built devices that use Arduino Leonardo’s to convert plant biodata into MIDI. The resulting musical output, processed in Max MSP, allows participants to engage with the plant’s synthesis through a bespoke interactive interface designed within Max’s presentation mode.

‘Her Garden of Voices: An Interactive Musical Ecosystem’ will be showcased as an installation in the Stephen Lawrence Gallery at university of Green from the 17th of September.

As a part of my MA I have begun to experiment with DIY Electronic instruments that incorporate Arduino technology. Through following Sound Simulator’s YouTube tutorial for Arduino to MaxMSP communication I was able to create a FM synthesisers with three sensors that modulate the sounds of the waveforms!

This has been a great first project to help me get into DIY electronics and really useful as an insight to the world of programming as a beginner with Arduino.

2024 has been such an amazing year for me and my development as a musician and producer. I graduated from my undergrad in Music and Sound Production with a first class honors degree from @bimm_brighton and am now so lucky to be studying my Masters in Music and Sound Design at @uniofgreenwich

I feel to grateful to have learnt and continue to learn so much, and feel like I am at an amazing place creatively. I’m super keen to release my first few pieces of music in the new year so watch this space!! 🎶 🎧 by @sofiapescomusic
