@sofijapetrovicopera makes both her house and role debut at the @macerataoperafestival this summer, singing Azucena in Verdi’s Il trovatore from 19th July.
Praised for her “extraordinary emotional depth” and “rich and expressive” mezzo-soprano, Petrović will take on the Verdi heroine in performances run until 31 July.

For the last 12-13 years I have lived outside of my country, my hometown Belgrade, far away from my family and friends. And that has been hard no matter how strong my sense of purpose was and still is, no matter how much I love my job, no matter how much I live to perform, give emotion and be on stage. Moving all the time and living from suitcases can be exausting. When I was younger I thought career and success are the only important things in ones life but now the older I get I realize the most important thing is a balance between your professional and your private life. To be happy also when the adrenaline goes down, when you go out of the theatre and your workplace and when you do those simple things. ♥️♥️♥️
