Here at @sofiparkermusic we believe in embracing the DIY attitude. This means that even a synth witch makes mistakes! Totally left out a show that I’m really excited for so I had to whip up a whole other graphic in an act of reverent penance.

This time next week I will be on my way to Chicago to play the first of three shows in less than two days, as well as the first of two shows I’ll be playing with @m.otherthing . I’ll be coming back that night and the next day will be arriving bright-eyed and bushy-tailed to the @feverdreamhalloweenfest for the coolest pre-fest pre-party you’ve ever been to. Then, after a quick detour to the modular takeover at @statestreetpubssp I’ll be heading over to @jclydespub for a late night of experimental sounds and rich textures with @eartht0la1ka, @stonetapetheorydiy and the aforementioned @m.otherthing .

To say I’ve been looking forward to this stretch of shows is an understatement that can be made about this whole month.

Thank you to @torrentmoon.exe for capturing this from open mic last night! I was working on this Philip Glass piece as a love letter to my Digitone, and while I don’t think it’s finished I’m really happy with how it all came together yesterday.

This time tomorrow we will be hitting the road for the aptly-named Midwest Marathon Mini-tour - LFG.

October is upon us!! I’ve been looking forward to this month for a hot minute and am excited for all the new spots I’m going to be playing!

Kicking off this month with three shows in 24 hours - playing Chicago for the first time, then Noblesville the next day, followed by an Indy homecoming later that evening. I’m already tired. It’s gonna be lit.

Did you know this was once a more guitar-centered project? I’m circling back to some old passions and brushing the dust off of my guitar skills. Guitar wasn’t the first instrument I picked up, but it is the first one that I fell in love with, so it always feels a bit like returning home.

Guitar rig involves a bunch of things I had lying around. Signal path goes from guitar -> Ages by @walrusaudioeffects -> Left Hand Wrath (fuzz), into a passive volume pedal and then sent into my usual tape delay chain, featuring El Capistan v1 by @strymonengineering and the Roland SP-404’s vinyl sim.

You know, normal things to have lying around.

Last time in Indianapolis the performance was dedicated to Water; this time is fueled by Fire 🌊🔥
/PLASMA/PRAYERS & MACHINES is a new performance by Angel P. Yánez with music and sound design by Sofi Parker. While physicists categorize Plasma as an altogether different kind of matter, this #performance plays between the close immediacy of #Fire as an everyday element and as the Alien force keeping the #Sun of our galaxy alive. Centered around Fire as the everlasting force behind all kinds of technology, this piece uses both #ancestral and #contemporary technologies to extend the universe proposed by Ray Bradbury in his celebrated anthology “The Illustrated Man”. Choreography, movement with objects, and a live electronic score blend together to corporealize science fiction through the lens of childishness and primitiveness. Combining the characters of Peter and Wendy from Bradbury’s “The Veldt”, this work stages the improvisational, rudimentary, and foolish relations we build with unknown or discontinued devices and interfaces. Amidst a sonic-scape of synth-electronic music, “/PLASMA/PRAYERS & MACHINES” reframes a prayer as an elemental technology to organize our cognitive force, as a rudimentary form of programming, and as a way to animate new relationships with machines. If we were to ask a machine to come up with a prayer, how would that sound? by @sofiparkermusic
