Our feet splashed through the puddles as we made a run for the forest green building nestled on the 79th street causeway. The door was a portal to another time, something so warm and familiar. The Bee Gees played on the stereo. I listened closely and to my surprise, the lyrics were in Mandarin. The lantern's friendly red glow adding to the retro atmosphere. We were in for a good time.

It was happy hour and the drinks were wonderful. Mine spiced with a beautiful peppercorn flavor. So many levels, so much depth.

One of the best bites were the wings that debuted during our visit! It's mouth numbing spice, a joyful flashback to my visit to Szechuan province. The Char Siu Ribs also packed a punch. We had some crab rangoons with so much flavor and a generous amount of crab. The Tea Smoked duck buns were so beautifully smoked and juicy with the crispiest skin. Our soy braised short ribs were also so delicious.

We ended our meal with coconut rice pudding and a seasonal ice cream sandwich. A satisfying and refreshing end to a remarkable meal. taken in Double Luck by @soflomommijoni

Blowing Rocks Preserve in Jupiter Beach

Sounds by the cicadas, the waves, and my children.

This is by far one of my favorite beaches to visit and so unlike any other place in South Florida. My kids loved exploring the "caves" that were made of limestone. This area remains minimally developed, and gives you a peek into beautiful South Floridian ecosystems. Definitely worth the drive. ❤️ taken in Blowing Rocks Nature Reserve, Jupiter Beach, Florida by @soflomommijoni

@ossobuco.miami , what a treat! As steak lovers, this place was a must try on our list. It's also part of Miami Spice, so go check it out! The entire dining experience was wonderful, from our sweet server to the warm server assistants. We had an amazing time. Some of our favorite dishes were:

The wood fired Cowboy Steak, it was to die for!

The dry aged Branzino that was so well balanced

The Carpaccio and Tuna Tare Tare were equally amazing. Also, my five year old said that it was the best thing he's ever had.

For dessert we had some Churros and an Ube Empanada, both were great, but the Ube empanada stole my heart.

Besides the food, there were so many little touches that took the dining experience to the next level. Chef Guillermo provided us with special knives from his home in Argentina. The servers made my little ones and us feel right at home and were truly a class act! Can't wait to go back. 🥩 taken in Wynwood Arts District, Miami, Florida by @soflomommijoni

It's finally the last week of summer, and it's been an absolute pleasure spending this time learning with my sweet beans. ❤️

This week will be all about having fun and getting ready for kindergarten.

This week's reads:

Tie Your Shoes with the Paw Patrol - Scholastic Books
A book that helps us learn to tie our shoes.

The Pigeon HAS to Go to School - Mo Willems
This book is a humorous story about the anxieties of starting school.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood Friends Ask First
A book about sharing.

The Caring Me I Want To Be! - Mary DiPalermo
A book about Kindness.

We're going to start working on establishing a routine for school, talking to new friends, and instilling confidence about our new school

Because we're about to start Kindergarten, this will be a week of celebration! These week's activities are suggestions, so do whatever you know your kids will love. by @soflomommijoni

We're diving into Fire Safety week for week 9 of summer!

This week's reading options are going to be:

Mighty Machines In Action - Fire Trucks

Fire Elemental Earth - William Anthony

Curious George and the Firefighters - Margaret & H.A. Rey's

Our first activity of the week is going to be a fire and oxygen science experiment. We are going to talk about how oxygen helps fuel fires. We're going to demonstrate this by covering candles with different size jars to show how long the fire will last once it's deprived of oxygen.

Our second activity is going to be a fun backyard activity. I'm going to use chalk to paint some flames all over the backyard and their playground, and they're going to have to use a squirt gun to "put out the fire."

Here are some weekly field trip ideas for firefighter week. You can visit a fire station, go to a touch-up truck event. For this one, I would visit your local areas web page to see if they have any coming up soon! There are also so many children's museums and indoor playgrounds that have a firefighter area where your kids can dress up and pretend to be a firefighter. by @soflomommijoni

Downtown Miami on a Monday.

Of course we would hit up @viceversamiami before heading out to the Kaseya center for a fun night enjoying Tame Impala.

This place was a total vibe, from the decor to the food, I was impressed. On Mondays they have their Wagyu smash burger on the menu (while supplies last), so we finally got to try it! We absolutely loved it. Then we had the pizza... I still crave it over a week later. We went with a clam pizza with white sauce, lemon and scallion.

The cocktails were masterfully crafted.

We had such an amazing time, and can't wait to go back! by @soflomommijoni

We have been so excited to get into Space week!

For our reading choices we have the following books:

National Geographic Kids Meteors by Melissa Stewart

Space Science Galaxies by IR books

The Sun and the Moon by Carolyn Cinami DeCristofano

Our weekly activities are:

Balloon Rocket Activity - for this activity, We are going to use a string, a balloon, a clothespin, a straw, tape and a marker. You are going to tape a straw to the top of a balloon. Draw a little spaceship on the balloon, then you're going to blow it up. Use a clothespin to make sure too much air doesn't escape from the balloon and thread the straw onto some string. You're going to have a child hold one end of the string and you're going to hold the other end of the string. Next, you're going to let the clothespin go and the air inside of the balloon is going to propel the balloon. This is going to teach your children about the physics of motion.

Painting a Galaxy - for this activity you're going to need black paper, cotton balls, and whatever kind of paint that you have. You're going to use a cotton ball and dab it onto the black paper in order to create your own Galaxy.

For this week you can get creative with all kinds of different field trip ideas. You can visit a planetarium or a science museum. Always check with your local library to see if they have any space themed activities. And, you can always just go outside, especially somewhere that is a little bit out of the city, and look up at the sky. Talk about the different stars that you see! by @soflomommijoni
