Unfortunately the 25-26 season ended for us yesterday but thankfully just started for the three this ones for. Pretty sure by now it’s apparent the gratitude I have for my parents and though the marathon has just begun, it’s evident they’ll feel the same way with each lap in the race. First up was my cousin Alexis and her Husband Enrique welcoming Xavier. Next at bat was my cousin Gadiel and his wife Becky with Amara. Lastly we have my brother Jason and his wife Valeria with Mavic. This one’s dedicated to you guys. May you continue to guide, teach and above all LOVE them as our fadas did for us.

As I’m sure you already know it won’t be easy, but always remember as you hold them that, “The FORCE is strong with this one.”

For quite some time even before I posted the Jhayco song I did, “Buen Provecho”, I’ve wanted to do a project similar to Tory Lanez “Chixtape series”. Showcasing my r&b influences as he does throughout the project. Well I finally got my head out my ass and this is what I’ve come up with. Motivation came bac k after bro got em on DSPs and remembered how awesome of a project the collection of songs actually were. I got working in no time. To be honest what really stumped me was what to name it cause the music just flowed. Perreo’n’B or switch out Rhythm for Riddim&Blues. At its core it’s still perreo, just a different flavor.

“MVP” is what it would sound like if I wrote and produced a record for Zion. Shout out to AI for converting my voice to sound like him. A Young Ricans just tryna get placements. 💪🏼🙌🏼🙏🏻👍🏼🤙🏼

Hopefully everyone has been enjoying the holidays with the people they care about most but I feel whomever at work controlling the Aux cord might be obsessed with Rauw and Feid haha. There’s like three Feid songs and Rauw on repeat. Don’t get me wrong I like Feid but he’s got WAYYYyYy better songs than just those three. I mean Jamaica, Castigo, Belixe, Aguante, El Cuarto De Ferxxo, Tx Vxs, Malibu, Hookia, Quiero, and Sígueme RMX to name a few. Back to the point though. The whole Christmas season Santa was on repeat which is a bop, there’s no denying that. However I couldn’t help but think in my head why would Rauw be praying to “Santa” when little ol’ 8 lb 4oz sweet baby Jesus laying in the manger is the reason for the season 🤣😂😝🤪😅

They played it so much that Christmas Eve comes and we gather at Titi Winas house. It had to be the vibes but I was in the spirit hardcore and after the festivities I bring out my laptop and get started on this remix. I put my headphones on and got to work. All aboard the polar express right?! Haha press play and enjoy what it sounds like if Santa picked up Ayra Starr in Nigeria and brought her to the Caribbean for Christmas. Heard they got a flat flying over Bayamón but were able to make it to Piñones for some alcapurrias while the sleigh is in the taller having some work done. Whips so exclusive Los tres Reyes magos had to bring the parts needed to fix it.

Also minus the bass and drums I still only used three instruments to complete the melody aspect of the remix 🎁🎁🎁 like the gold, myrrh and frankincense gifted to bro.

Alright so you might be wondering why I skipped from 45-79. Well the answer is simple, 34 years as of yesterday your boy touched down in the 79 Pueblo of Puerto Rico known as Orlando the city beautiful. I chose this song because although it’s missing some of my musical influences, a lot are on this one trac k and the great philosopher Curtis Jackson once said, “If you love me tell me you love me, don’t stare at me man. I’d hate to be in the pen for Clapton on of my fans.” So this is me giving them their flowers. Although the subject matter is about Main Land Puerto Rico I felt it still resonates here in good old 79. I named it Ahoz con Wewito because that was my FAVORITE meal as a child. To the point where I’d wake up in the middle of the night hungry, walk to my parents room and gently shake my mom and say, “maaaa hame aho con wewito” at that time I was a toothpick so mom would wake up and make it for me. Thank you Mom for birthing me and always making sure I was fed. Thank you Pa for always guiding me and making sure I was good. To my friends, family and loved ones that been with me throughout the years and helped shape me into who I am today I love you. This is all just a dream of mine de callejón con los panas fumando, con fama soñando, cantando y llegaré. Lejos del barrio pero en esta ciudad. Y en otro suelos escucharán mis canción. Pero lo que jamás podré olvidar es de donde salí pues eso es lo que soy!

Pre season opener and we’re currently down by 11 at half time against the Heat (insert Ben Chang meme from community) but I still got faith we’ll have a reason to jam out to this remix I whipped up. Shout out Carlos Arroyo taking the team to PR for an exhibition match. If you know me you’ll know I wear my Arroyo away jersey at least once a week. Numbers falling off and I don’t give a FUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu hahaha. Shits been with me since ‘07. I remember the day I got it. It was Noche latina and the whole fam had tickets to go. Pops picks me up at my girlfriend of the times house and I loaded into my stepmoms Mitsubishi Montero with everyone else and we head from Lakeland to the Amway Arena. We get there and make it to our seats. We were chilling enjoying the game then comes half time. Perfect time to handle any intermissions. Go take a leak and then I’m waiting for my dad to get out of the bathroom over in the store by concessions stand. Then I see it. The away 2x length Carlos Arroyo jersey (mind you this is ‘07, dem franchise boys are still pretty poppin and tall tees were the wave) I had to have it. Remembering I didn’t have any money I put it back and out comes my dad from the bathroom. I meet up with him and we head back to our seats. I guess he must’ve saw me put the jersey down or something cause after the game while everyone who stayed for noche latina and is moving closer to the court for the Rakim & Ken-Y concert he hands me a bag with the same jersey plus a fire And1 screen print shirt of the famous picture of Arroyo from the Olympics when we beat the USA. Needless to say I was hype. Now we’re in the 3rd quarter down by 1. Lets keep that momentum. I’m just hopeful we win. Even if we don’t, como quiera dale play!!! 🔵⚪️🔥

Story time continued…

We last left off with when my uncle brought me to the motherland during the summer of 8th grade. Let’s fast forward a couple months to winter vacation of 9th grade. I’ll set the tone, I’ve already installed FLStudio6 and the plugins on the family computer plus both my sister’s lap tops that Hendel & DJ Magic blessed me with. Didn’t matter where, an idea was gonna get started. Winter break comes around and Miss Diana (Alex one of my best friends from the other story times mom) invited me to stay a weekend with them up in Gainesville-GO GATORS!!!! Can’t remember if mom met Miss Diana halfway on the turnpike or if she picked me up but regardless thank you!! I brought my burned dvd so Alex could have a copy. This was also before we were “tech savvy” and didn’t realize we wouldn’t be able to install the .exe files on his Mac mini. We were upset we couldn’t set up something at his house even though we tried so instead spent the time writing. A little while later Alex gets an invite to go over his friend Jacob’s house. He lets him know that I’m over and without hesitation Jacob tells him to bring me along. Jacob was the drummer at Alex’s church and they met because Alex played bass for the band. Jacob grew up in a very musical family due to his pops being a percussionist therefore passing on the rhythm to him. He built a home studio in his garage complete with both a control room and space for trac king vocals and instruments. That day I met Jay Phat, the world today knows him as Cardec Drums. He opened up the doors and allowed me to record my first song. Personally I wish I still had it cause we killed that trac k. I did the verse and he did the chorus. For kids that shit slapped to me. We kept in contact when I went back home and shared links to downloads from Malianteo, ReggaetonLine and all the other forros where we could find crac ked software. by @sofritonogoya

No gimmic ks with this one. Been sitting on this one for a little while. Anyone who knows me knows I hate attention and would rather play my part in the background but since one of my favorites de la nueva announced he’s having his concert en el choli on my birthday, I figured I’d post this song I made with the idea of getting it placed with him in hopes he might wanna add it to the set list. Haha a long shot being that bros already on tour and set list has probably already been selected but a young Rican can dream can’t he. Imagine that, your song playing for the crowd in the motherland on your birthday. Thats buc ket list level goals. If you like it and think jhayco would kill it, apply pressure so he can chec k it out. Ironically enough this was print number 8, kinda goes along with the subject matter if you ask me 💪🏼👍🏼🤙🏼🤣😝

Side note this one was really fun to make cause not only is it a dope song, but also because it was a challenge. Most rap and reggaeton songs are written in a 4/4 time signature and I found that Coldplay wrote this record in a 6/8. Similar to 3/4 but how you can tell is within the phrasing of the melody but I won’t bore you with the details when they’re practically the same. I then got to thinking, how can I take this song that’s in 6/8 and remix it to 4/4. Well it’s simpler than I had anticipated. A little bit of research, a couple YouTube videos mixed with some trial and error and I learned that in order to change the time signature you multiply the original tempo by 4 then you divide the sum by 3. Simple as that, you now have the bpm in 4/4. A couple equations till you find the solution. Who would’ve thought math would save the day, but in theory music is nothing more than a combination of organized noise and rests.
