Happy Q2! I have good news for my frans (friend fans), bad news for my froes (friend foes) and neutral news for none of the above, the show {Stupidity is Timeless} has been extended to May 30. If you haven't had a chance to check out the show, gallery open hours are every Saturday from 12-5pm which means there are now 7 more Saturdays henceforth for you to check out the show!

This upcoming Saturday 4/18 I will at @zekesprojects from 12-5. Yes, aka the fartist is present. If you want to perform viewing my art to me, the time is nigh! Ik what you're thinking, will there be buttcoin? Well you will have to visit me to find out, won't you? Oh hi I didn't see you there, you know what I always say, stupidity is in the eye of the BEHOLDER, (and that's power). You (yes YOU) are cordially invited to COME BEHOLD the finest stupidity money can and/or cannot buy, the latest and worst objets d'(f)arts I've ever made! Nothing indicates mental wellness quite like indulging in some community oriented merrymaking with the finest friends and or foes in the metroplex with some dogs and cold ones afterall. What are you waiting for? Save the date, and hope to see you @zekesprojects March 21st from 5-7pm. There’s nothing more satisfying than watching a silly little idea come to life. What started as a funny way to present Joanna’s night lights stacked into a pyramid because, well, how else would you present food night lights?? Turned into one of our favorite pieces in the show, Food Pyramid. This piece is special because it shifts how we see Joanna’s lights. They’re no longer just cute functional homeware, they’re something that can make you feel… something, or nothing at all. It becomes less about craft and more about art. Plus, it gave us the chance to collaborate with friends and family, leaning on their woodworking and electrical skills to bring this kind of silly idea to life. You should see the text threads with my dad mostly confusion, but honestly, what’s so confusing about a food pyramid???

That’s the beauty of Now That’s What I Call A.S.S. the show wasn’t meant to be deep, but somehow it is. Every piece reflects hundreds of hours Joanna spent learning new skills, knitting, hand-tufting, and just doing random shit because she can. A reminder that free will is great and sometimes it’s just fun to make things for the sake of making them.

I've been informed by @point.of.view___ that my hotdog nightlight actually is NOT my wurst seller for once in its life!!! I never thought the day would come where I would find the glizzy people, but i guess dreams do come true #hotdogtakethewheel #modernmeatmiracle

To my surprise these were my best seller at a recent market this weekend, which has never happened before. I love how my previously accrued data from other markets is useless in helping me plan ahead and prepare!

Introducing sillystuff — a curious collection of objects born from the intersection of technical skill, chaotic invention, and a devotion to seeing the dumbest idea through to its most polished form.
Joanna Lin, the artist behind Soft Surprise, doesn’t believe in belaboring meaning from her art. Instead, she pursues curiosity to its absurd conclusions — whether it’s a knitted meat man, a garlic night light, or even a life size award ribbon akin to those given for reaching milestones. Her work exists where high-precision design and high-stakes goofiness meet often requiring hours (and multiple softwares) to make things look effortless and silly in the best way.
Drawn to shortcuts but dedicated to the finish, the artist’s process balances speed with an obsessive attention to detail, the result of years spent in both the corporate and craft worlds. sillystuff catalogues the strange, delightful outcomes of that balance. It’s not about commentary. It’s about making something worth the effort — something so dumb, it’s kind of genius.
