on this month’s episode of Wanderlust, we’re taking one of our many trips to Chicago with fellow lovely tour giides of @softesthan and @love__higher, to discover and appreciate the eclectic, fast-paced sounds of FOOTWORK !! 👣

footwork is a style of dance music that originates from the south + west side of the chicago that takes influence from ghetto-house (another chicago based genre), sped up to faster rhythms, heart pounding kicks, and ear cracking snares or claps make for some of the most hypnotic, frenetic music you may have heard ever.

originators of the sound such as @rp_boo_official, @teklife57, DJ Spinn, and DJ Rashad (RIP) have shaped the foundations and classics of the genre while others like @cakedog2199 , @itscomptonjbw, @jukebouncewerk , and @tasoteklife spread it internationally.
Nowadays, a handful of producers and collectives such as @sam___weber , khadija al hanafi, @footwork_connection , @mutualvampire, @dem0soldier , @414414141.4 , one of our special guests, @love__higher , and so many others continue to push the genre in many different ways while still embracing and appreciating their roots.

we take off this monday july 20th from 10pm to 12am pst! we always departure from @bsidedotradio airlines, gate bside.radio. get your dancing shoes on and get ready 2 kill da circle … 👟👟

glad to finally do this episode, this was also another one of the main episodes i wanted to do with wanderlust. one of my most played genres and foundations to my sound is footwork, and i wanted to have an episode to show my appreciation to it as well as have guests who feel similar :) by @softesthan
