Over 2 days we’ll cover the fundamentals of TOPs, CHOPs, POPs, and COMPs, MediaPipe, and audio reactivity! In Reactive Space we developed an understanding of node-based workflows in @touchdesigner to create real-time visuals and control them with audio-reactivity and body tracking! Students collaboratively developed projection mapped visuals using the skills they’d learned, grounded in contemporary new media art contexts. In Internet Canvas we built interactive art websites with p5.js, discussed Net Art, and learned approaches to vibe coding! Students created their own websites exploring concepts like family history and memory, collective emotion, and prediction. Thanks to all who attended! by @softlaunch_net

We are VERY excited to have the opportunity to showcase work from the participants of our Spring workshops at @interaccessto as part of @doorsopen_to ! 👾☁️🎉 ⏰ Interactive pieces from the Reactive Space workshops will be on display in the IA360 space on May 23rd, while net art and generative image and video works from Internet Canvas and Synthetic Worlds will be up for both May 23rd and 24th, 11am-5pm! Tara Rose Morris @taramoves (she/they ) is a mixed desi new media artist, creative technologist, and educator based between Toronto and Montreal whose practice spans video, installation, performance, and sculpture. They use compositing as a material and epistemic strategy to examine the way technology intervenes in our relationships to the world around us, each other, and ourselves, producing layered speculative worlds from fragmented and reassembled source material. She has taught workshops internationally in creative coding, web3, generative AI, and animation and is looking forward to sharing her approaches and experience during the soft_launch weekend intensives! Benjamin Lappalainen ( @blapcode ) is a new media artist, creative technologist, and educator based in Toronto. His interactive installations expose technology’s mechanisms rather than hiding them—asking participants to negotiate with systems instead of passively consuming them.
