POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I was put through a verification process that was stuck for a week where the code wasn't being sent to my phone. I kept trying and finally it was sent and apparently someone a 'cry wolf' person made a false complaint! by @softtoyfox

I like playing this original version of Acornsoft Snapper. It can be played instantly in a browser: https://bbcmicro.co.uk/game.php?id=2345

It is a carbon copy of Namco's Pac-Man and Acornsoft was required to alter in the other versions. Subsequently those versions are too easy. My best score was 72,000 but it gets very frantic indeed at that point - but the excitement of it is the thrill of being chased and trying to survive. In real life humans don't have things chasing after them, so life isn't as exciting as it might be for an animal that is being hunted in the food chain line. by @softtoyfox

I uploaded one clip of Repton 2 last year (2024) with a voice commentary: https://youtu.be/vGxOHcS7EbQ by @softtoyfox

This year, I completed all the levels of the Repton 3 series: Around The World In 40 Screens, The Life of Repton and Repton Thru Time. There are over 100 individual levels which have been cleverly designed. The object is to collect all the treasure, while avoiding the characters that need to get to a destination icon in order to become a piece of treasure, to avoid the falling rocks when become dislodged, to collect the relic item (e.g. crown), and to do it within a time limit. There is a time capsule icon which resets the timer. A homing in enemy which you lose a life on contact emerges when an icon (e.g. egg) falls and becomes an enemy (e.g. monster hatchling). There are safes which need to be unlocked with a key, and these change into collectable treasure. I originally had an Acorn Electron computer in the 1980's and loaded Repton, Repton 2 and Repton 3 from a cassette - but this website offers the convenience of instant loading. It is also free and contains no adverts or hidden catches so I recommend this retro gaming website: https://bbcmicro.co.uk or Repton 3 Redux contains all the expansions that I played combined into one title: https://bbcmicro.co.uk/game.php?id=4405 by @softtoyfox

3 photos of Mom's cat 'Snowy', which I took using a 35mm film camera that Nan gave me. The first photo was when Snowy was younger aged about 9 and the second and third on the back garden border by the conifer hedge - taken age about 15. He was heavier and moving around a bit slower, and coming to the end. Typically long haired Persian cats with the large head die of kidney failure, because of licking their fur to wash themselves. When he suddenly couldn't walk anymore Dad put him into his cardboard box lined with a jumper, and the vet came to give him an injection. He was buried under the Worcester apple tree near the bottom of the garden, which is still there now. I remember he used to get soaked in the rain, and appear at the large floor to ceiling window of the kitchen, on the patio meowing loud to be let in. I would pat him dry using sheets of kitchen roll, and comb his fur using a cat brush, until it was fairly dry. by @softtoyfox

First flowering of my standard roses, this year June 2024. I purchased and planted 4 standard roses, in early 2023. The second photo shows the Tesco supermarket card and all 4 were labelled as orange. However, 3 of the roses have white to pale pink petals as shown in the first photo, and the 4th rose has petals mid pink speckled with white. The different colours was a very unexpected surprise! by @softtoyfox
