The best part about interviewing for automation roles is talking about real architecture decisions. Anyone can write a basic script, but managing a framework at scale is where things get interesting.

Whenever I'm asked about my experience with Playwright, these are the exact talking points I bring to the table:

"We isolated our test sessions using BrowserContext so we could run parallel tests without state leakage."
"We stopped using flaky explicit waits because Playwright's actionability checks handle dynamic elements natively."
"Instead of guessing why a test failed in the CI/CD pipeline, we rely on Trace Viewer to replay network requests and DOM snapshots."

It’s the difference between just knowing the tool and actually solving delivery bottlenecks.

One thing I’ve used quite a lot while working with Java automation is TestNG.

When I first started with automation, TestNG was one of those things that looked simple, but once you actually start working on real projects, you realize how useful it is for organizing and managing your tests.

Over time, things like running specific tests, grouping tests, managing dependencies and generating reports became part of my regular automation work.

Sharing this because if you’re learning Selenium with Java, TestNG is definitely something you’ll come across in real automation projects.

Sometimes learning a tool becomes much easier when you understand where you actually use it in your day-to-day work. 💻

Which QA tool have you used the most in 2026? 👀

Most of you might probably say ChatGPT or Claude.

But honestly, one tool I ended up using a LOT recently was Check My Links by @selectorshub

I had a bunch of tickets where I needed to verify a lot of links, and manually opening and checking each one was honestly tedious.

That’s when I started using Check My Links.

It scans the links on a webpage and quickly tells you which links are working and which ones are broken, so you don’t have to manually check every single link.

I ended up using it quite a lot over just a couple of days, and it genuinely saved me time for that particular task.

Sometimes it’s not always the big AI tools — even a simple tool can be super useful when it solves the exact problem you’re dealing with. 😄

One thing I’ve learned while working with Java is that understanding the fundamentals makes a huge difference.

When I first started, OOP felt like just another topic to learn. But with real projects and writing automation code, I slowly realized how much these concepts actually help in keeping code clean, reusable, and easier to maintain.

The more I worked with Java, the more naturally these ideas started making sense.

Many websites/APIs decide which language to serve based on the Accept-Language HTTP request header, rather than requiring you to change your browser or OS language settings. With Modify Header by @selectorshub you could:

Set Accept-Language: fr-FR (or de-DE, ja-JP, es-MX, etc.) as a request header

Reload the page/hit the API

See if the site correctly switches to French, German, Japanese, Spanish content

What this saves you from:
Without this, testing localization the "normal" way usually means:

Changing your entire browser language settings (slow, affects everything)

Changing OS-level locale settings

Using a VPN to simulate different regions

Manually appending ?lang=fr query params (if the app even supports that)

With Modify Header, you can quickly flip the Accept-Language header and test multiple locales one after another, in the same browser session, without touching system settings.

Where it's limited for localization testing:

It helps for server-driven locale detection (i.e., apps that actually read Accept-Language to decide content). If the app locale is driven by a URL path (/fr/, /de/), a cookie, local storage, or a manual in-app toggle instead, Modify Header won't trigger that switch — you'd need to interact with the app itself.

Bottom line: It's a handy shortcut for header-based locale testing (mainly API/backend-driven language switching), but it's not a full localization testing tool — think of it as one useful technique in your localization testing toolkit. by @software_testing_hacks
