My robotics journey might be ending this year.

What started with joining the Chattanooga School For the Liberal Arts robotics team in elementary school led to a journey I am incredibly blessed to have.

Along the way, I made lifelong friends, developed vital skills, and learned how to think like an engineer under pressure. From early FIRST Lego League competitions to ranking at the VEX Robotics World Championship and, most recently, winning Science Olympiad, Inc. regionals with McCallie School, robotics shaped me.

Robotics pushed me into other areas, too. It strengthened my love for engineering, influenced how I approach problem-solving in city policy, and shaped how I build systems in everything from media production to policy research at the City of Chattanooga. Whether this chapter ends or not, robotics will always be one of the foundations of who I am.

I am incredibly blessed to be guided by my robotics coach, Scott Rosenow, who supported me every step of the way since elementary school.

I would also like to thank Professor Abdul R. Ofoli, Ph.D, P.E., for his mentorship and for the role he has played in my recent achievements.

Thanks to all my teammates over the years.

On to the next journey. by @sohamforchange

I’m grateful to be one of eight young leaders for the City of Knoxville Mayor’s Emerging Leaders Council.

Through the council, I’ll have the opportunity to engage with Mayor Indya Kincannon, city leaders, and local government while helping bring a young perspective to the future of Knoxville. Shukar Alhamdulillah. #knoxville by @sohamforchange

The lightening-sparked fire displaced around 70 people in Hixson. Hopefully these families can recover 🙏 GoFundMe (link also in my bio): https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-angela-to-rebuild-after-the-integra-vistas-fire-hixson?attribution_id=sl%3A437afac8-7e2d-4523-ad35-c3763f3c8e2a&lang=en_US&ts=1784040172&utm_campaign=man_today_first_time_share&utm_content=amp20_t1&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=sms&utm_id=97758_v0_s00_e0_tv4_a1den5eqt7n5a6 by @sohamforchange

What’s inside these bags may seem small, but for many people, daily essentials like hygiene products are not always easy to access.

Food insecurity isn’t distant. It’s closer than most people think.

We talked to Shannon Moore, Chief Communications Officer at the Chattanooga Area Food Bank, to talk about what people get wrong and how you can help.

We interviewed the Aquarium.

Here’s what we learned ⬇️

A lot of the work you don’t see is what makes the biggest difference, like composting and how operations are run day to day. taken in Chattanooga, Tennessee by @sohamforchange

We recently visited the Tennessee Aquarium to learn about their emerging sustainability efforts and the work being done behind the scenes to protect our environment.

Thank you to Ceara Caffrey, Sustainability Coordinator, for sharing insight into how the Aquarium is thinking about sustainability and conservation.

This is just the beginning. More conversations with local leaders working on environmental solutions are coming soon. by @sohamforchange

Earlier this month, we were able to organize an event giving back to the elders in our community, wishing them a Merry Christmas early. As I spent time conversing with many elderly residents, I realized something simple but important:

In a digital and increasingly isolated world, our elders are often overlooked, leaving them more isolated than ever before.

Our elders carry invaluable advice and perspective that we can learn from; we just have to take the time to listen. Moments like today remind me that giving back does not always have to be large. Sometimes giving back can be your presence, a conversation, or a smile. taken in Health Center @ Standifer Place by @sohamforchange
