| camp sohi.

i started sohisounds. in 2019 as a small boutique "label" to release my own music through. at the time i was writing, producing and releasing pretty much all on my own with the occasional help of a few friends. i had this really almost borderline unhealthy obsession with doing this music thing alone. i was under the impression that if i wasn't involved in every aspect of the music, it would be inauthentic.

this mentality persisted until one day, after showing my music to a trusted friend of mine who was much further along in his career, he advised me to collaborate. empowered with this, i began a journey to find other people to work with.

then life hit.

i found myself in los angeles, where i wanted to be, but heartbroken, hurt and not thinking straight. what was supposed to be a move turned into an extended vacation full of partying and spending money i didn't have (i promise i'm going somewhere with this)

this all led me back home to dallas. i returned home with my tail between my legs, ashamed of the time and opportunities i felt i had squandered. i got a job at a bar in hopes to save money and get back to los angeles.
God had other plans.

in a few months, i met king, a few months later, ehis, through him i met leo and maxwell and fast forward two years we rented a house in laguna beach california to record an album. together.

from heartbreak and isolation, to community and shared creativity in the same place i threw it all away.

redemption.

my mom always tells me "His Grace will make you"
camp sohi is more than an album to me, it's a memorial. it's a reminder that no matter how far i stray, God's got me. only He can write a story as profound as this.

so yeah, listen to it if you want, or not. all i know is, i'm held by Grace.
