“All guitar techs do is change strings.”

Something I’ve heard before.

But what do you do when your artist’s Axe-Fx — their entire digital guitar amp rig — goes down right before a festival set in front of thousands of people?

You crack that sucker open and get in there.💪

This unit — luckily our backup — hit the dreaded “white screen of death” right before line check at Aftershock Festival.

Luckily, it turned out to be a loose ribbon connector inside the unit. Simple fix once I found it, but something that could’ve turned into a major problem at the absolute worst time.💀

That’s why learning the gear, understanding how it works, and being as prepared as you possibly can be is part of the job.

There’s a lot more to being a guitar tech than changing strings, touring the world, and seeing cool concerts.

Most of the time it’s weird catering food, troubleshooting under pressure, and 6 a.m. flights.

The show doesn’t care what broke.

It just has to work when the lights come on 💡

🚨 PORTLAND — HERE WE FUCKING GO!!🚨

We are beyond stoked to announce that @slimjimcarrey is playing @liveatmadrids on December 12 with local legends @sparkstherescue @toolatethehero and @broadwingmusic 🤘🔥

Huge shoutout to @theoutliergrp for having us be part of this one.

This is our first show since officially announcing the band. This is the splash. The first Slim Jim Carrey experience. We need all the homies, all the support, and all the eyeballs on this one 👀

We’re debuting our first merch designs, playing new songs, and bringing everything we’ve got.

⚠️ Learn the lyrics. Show up early. Bring your friends!

Also Sparks the Rescue said if this post gets 1 like they’re putting the skinny jeans back on, just saying 👖

You know what to do.

DECEMBER 12 — MADRID’S — PORTLAND, MAINE

Let’s make this a friggin' barn burner!! 🔥

🎸 SOHL GUITARS IS TAKING OVER A STAGE AT ROCKTOBERFEST! 🎸

We’re excited for the opportunity to host the Sohl Guitars Stage at Naples Rocktoberfest on October 10th!

We’ve got a diverse lineup featuring full rock bands, acoustic solo artists, local electronic musicians, and even a young performer stepping onstage for their very first concert. 🤘

📍 Find us at the Causeway Amphitheater, just left of the Beacon Bar. Sohl Guitars will be there with merch, FREE stickers, and more! 🌟

There’s plenty happening throughout Naples that day too — more live music, hot air balloon rides 🎈, face painting, tons of food vendors, family activities, and fireworks to end the night. 🎆

I’ve had a lot of badass instruments come through the shop, but you don’t see a USA-made B.C. Rich Warlock bass like this every day. 🤘

This late-’80s New Jersey Series had been sitting in its case for over a decade, and it definitely showed.

Sky-high action, dead output jack, oxidized frets, and about 10 years’ worth of finger cheese on the fingerboard. 😂

I gave it the full treatment & after more than a decade sitting in a case, this Warlock is finally back rocking the way it should. Loud, mean and ready for the stage 🔥

Finally got to see @turnstileluvconnection last night! 🔥

I’ve worked two festivals these guys were playing, and BOTH times we had to leave before their set.

Shoutout to everyone who braved the storm, Maine showed up! Great vibes 🤘🔥

Pretty cool full-circle moment last night getting to catch up with my old friend @tullykennedy of @jasonaldean

I first met Tully during my six years working at the @sadowskynyc Custom Shop in NYC. He was one of the first real touring rockstars I got to know, and someone I’ve always looked up to. He was always incredibly supportive and down to earth. At a time when I was building guitars every day and dreaming about somehow getting into the touring world, knowing Tully made that world feel a little less impossible.

In 2018, I got to interview him backstage at Madison Square Garden for Sadowsky. I remember thinking, “This is probably a once-in-a-lifetime experience.” being in that room.

Turns out I was wrong 😂 A few years later I was back at MSG working my own show as a guitar tech with Sevendust on the Three Days Grace + Disturbed 20th anniversary "Down with the Sickness Tour"

It's really cool thinking about how much has changed since those Sadowsky days. Touring and running my own guitar shop was definitely not something I could have pictured back then.

Tully has been with Jason Aldean since 1999, playing on more than 30 #1 records and building an incredible career as a player, songwriter and producer. Give him a follow

Great show, but even better catching up with someone who inspired me early on and has always supported what I’m doing 🤘🎸🔥

WOAH! This is cool! 🔥

@dyingscene featured our "Alrighty Then!" EP and had this to say:

“Punk rock from Maine has never sounded so damn good.”

We’ll take it! 😂

They also highlighted our single “Crack the Code” and shared the video.

Pretty wild seeing our name pop up on Dying Scene. Go check out the full feature! 🤘

We’ve been getting a TON of messages about the EP — what bands it reminds you of, what songs are hitting, what lyrics are sticking, and what kind of vibe it gives you...

And we genuinely wanna hear more!!

Drop it in the comments yo 👇

What's ya favorite song? Favorite lyric? What does this shit sound like to you? What does it make you feel??

We’re already writing new music, and hearing what connects with you actually helps shape where we take this thing next.

We’re out here spreading the gospel of Slim Jim Carrey, and we rely on you, our loyal disciples for energy! 🙏⚡️

PREACH!!

Hey guys! Just a heads up that Sohl Guitars will be temporarily closed September 11th–23rd.

I’m headed back out on the road! This time I’ll be out with @nothingmoremusic for some select dates, including Louder Than Life. 🤘

Even cooler, I get a side quest to rip a gig with the homies in @atreyuofficial 🔥🔥🔥

After that I’ll be home for about 10 days, and during that stretch it’ll be business as usual at the shop. I’ll be open and accepting repairs.

Then I’m flying out to Sacramento for Aftershock in Oct for a 1 off.

Thank you to everyone who made this such an awesome and insanely busy summer at the shop. I seriously appreciate all the support and everyone who trusted me with their guitars.

See you when I’m back! 🎸 by @sohlaroids

Some behind-the-scenes of Matt laying down the solo on “Lose My Cool” 🎸🔥

This is one of our favorite songs to play off the EP, and it’s a great example of the dynamic the three of us have when we’re writing together. Everybody brings something different to the table in this one, and somehow it all turns into Slim Jim Carrey (just accept the name, we have) ⚡️
