I'm a professional musician (drums, mic & production), husband and father. Also a believer & thinker. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

My Archival Audio beat tape is halfway done. Here’s the first single / drop from the project.

As the title suggests you’ll hear selections of some of my favorites over several years of heat off my hard drives. I used a few tools (Maschine, Koala Sampler, Beatmaker 3, and Korg Gadget).

Lakeside Stroll. It’s just what it sounded like to me when I finished it. (Made this one in Maschine 2).

The single is now available on my Bandcamp. Pick it up to support! by @sojournalist

A NEW CHAPTER — “RELIGHT THE GROOVE”
James Morgan Jazz is officially in production for the long-awaited new single, “Relight the Groove,” arriving March 26, 2027, on JMJ Records.

Following the January 2026 release of “Wes Coast Smooth,” “Relight the Groove” begins a new chapter for James Morgan Jazz and JMJ Records, that brings together the musicians, producers, recording team and marketing professionals who will take this record from preproduction to the studio, through post-production and ultimately out into the world.
Written and composed by James Morgan, the new instrumental is built around a laid-back contemporary groove and a memorable melodic hook. As has become customary with James Morgan Jazz recordings, the band will record live in the studio with no overdubs, capturing the interaction, spontaneity and chemistry of four musicians playing together in real time.

A NEW MARKETING CHAPTER
“Relight the Groove” will also mark an important first for JMJ Records.
It will be the first James Morgan Jazz release promoted in partnership with the renowned Gorov Music Marketing team, led by Jason and Jordan Gorov in Las Vegas.

Over the coming months, the JMJ Records production team will chronicle that journey—from preproduction and preparation, through the November recording session, post-production, marketing and promotion, and ultimately release day.
For us, that's part of what makes creating music so rewarding. A recording begins as an idea, but it eventually becomes the work of an entire team of musicians and professionals, each contributing something unique before the music finally reaches the listener.
Everyone involved with “Relight the Groove” is looking forward to getting back into the studio in November—and even more excited to share the finished recording with the world on March 26, 2027.

A NEW CHAPTER FOR JAMES MORGAN JAZZ & JMJ RECORDS
JMJ Records is proud to announce an exciting new chapter for James Morgan Jazz.
James Morgan Jazz—featuring James Morgan on guitar, Nathan Brown on bass, Chase Pado on piano and Tres Hodgens on drums—is now officially a client of Gorov Music Marketing, one of the most established names in Smooth Jazz radio promotion.
For JMJ Records, this represents far more than a new marketing relationship. It is another important step in the continued growth of James Morgan Jazz, James Morgan and the JMJ Records Family of Artists, and we are tremendously excited about what lies ahead.
Over the years, the Gorov team has worked with some of the most recognizable names in contemporary and Smooth Jazz, with testimonials from artists including Dave Koz, Boney James, Chris Botti, Peter White. Gorov Music Marketing promotes Smooth Jazz releases across more than 200 broadcasting platforms around the world.
Their reputation among the smooth jazz artists is stellar.
We are honored to now be part of that story.
Our first campaign with Gorov Music Marketing will begin in March 2027 with the release of the new James Morgan Jazz single, “Relight the Groove,” arriving March 26, 2027 on JMJ Records.
Composed, arranged and produced by JMJ Records CEO James Morgan, “Relight the Groove” will be recorded in November 2026 at Pacific Beat Recording Studio in San Diego, CA by engineer and producer Alan Sanderson.
The new single will bring together the James Morgan Jazz lineup of James Morgan – guitar, Nathan Brown – bass, Chase Pado – piano, and Tres Hodgens – drums for the beginning of what we believe will be an exciting new chapter in the evolution of our music.
A huge thank you to Jason, Jordan and the entire Gorov Music Marketing team for their belief in our music and for their continuing commitment to Smooth Jazz artists, Smooth Jazz and Smooth Adult Contemporary music. We look forward to a magnificent beginning and what we hope will become a long and fruitful relationship for many years to come.
And this is only the beginning.

Beats and Bars: Live Hip Hop Sessions with Sojourn
For those of you who love your music soulful and your lyricism thoughtful. Come enjoy and partake in some original lyrics! It’ll be your last chance to catch me live as a soloist in June before my tour with @sullvnmusic
Beats and Bars: Live Hip Hop Sessions with Sojourn
I’ll be playing music in tribute to Rob Base, Foster Sylvers, James Gadson, Trugoy the Dove (Dave) of De La Soul, P.E.A.C.E. of the Freestyle Fellowship, and of course, Dilla. I’ll also be playing an assortment heat from my favorites still with us like Pete Rock, Oddisee, Black Milk, DJ Premier, DJ Quik, DJ Battlecat, E-Swift, Madlib, DERTBeats, Theory Hazit, DSTL, you get the picture. You’ll have to pull up to find out who else I’ll play though. 6-9pm 😏 This is a flyer for a solo hip hop show with Sojourn of Future Shock and Tunnel Rats performing his original beats and lyrics along with tribute mixes in dedication to great artists who have passed. He will be drumming and rapping simultaneously as well. This will take place June 12th from 6-9pm at Felix’s BBQ with Soul in Oceanside California. taken in Felix's BBQ With Soul by @sojournalist
