Third session with this beautiful lady!
I find her very intriguing and the situation between her and my dogs is also very interesting.
When we first met her coming to her backyard she exploded and went for Ali in a big way. Not to hurt but to object to Alis approach. I disagreed and hijacked her mindset and she backed off later on she went for Ture but it took way less effort for me to stop her.
After that all the dogs became way more thoughtful toward each other.
Now she knew what I represented.
Second session my dogs came in with a very different energy and manners. So did she. They were very curious about each other but also very ambiguous and cautious.
That leads me to yesterday's session.
All parties were very curious and wanted to approach eachother but still not sure how to do it. They still hadn't sniffed each other out. Keeping their distance but trying to get closer. She has an edge to her which I like but she also have a insecurety that stems from way to little interactions with different dogs. When my dogs are moving around her to close she growls but then she freezes and gets stuck in a position. We want her to seek out the owner when she is insecure instead of acting out on her own. So I had her owner call her in to break the mind loop and have her learn that that's the place to be when in doubt. It worked perfectly and she relaxed. To a point we're she started to do play invites towards Ture.
But when he started to approach her she growled and he backed off. Then she froze again and we repeated the call in and she relaxed again. Then at one point she invited Ture again and the energy went up and Ture circled around the padio and came running around a corner they found themselves facing each other head on and very close. She reacted with aggression and Ture answered back. They had a, what I call a boxing match both on their back legs boxing with the front legs and alot of growling and teeth showing. Both saying: that was way to fast I don't like it! I broke it off with ease.
The interesting thing was the aftermath.
Both her and Ture was way more relaxed around each other as if they just had to get that out of their system. Way to go dudes! by @sokahldogs

Connection

I find myself walking further and further into the woods with the dogs. Away from the dogtraining world, especially the war of training methods. What I do and the reason I love being with dogs has nothing to do with that world.

I live and learn from the dogs as much as they live and learn from me.
I'm a student as much as I am a teacher.
Their world is not the same as ours.
They teach me their world and I teach them mine.
We both need to understand each other's world in order to coexist.

I don't think we can teach connection, we need to be connected.

There's two things we can give back to the dogs right away.
Presence and participation.
That's what they bring to the table every single day of their lives. If we can't give them that we gonna loose them and there's no dog training in the world that's gonna fix that. It's on us not the dogs.

I truly love everything about the dogs, come rain come shine. Understanding them is a way of understanding myself.
I'm an animal too. So if I can understand that side of me, I can relate to the dogs in a very different way. If I can be present and participate in what they do I get a connection that surpasses all dog training. We become a team based on understanding not training.

A dogs mind is a terrible thing to waste.

This is my journey, my thoughts and I'm not here to convince anybody. Especially the dogs.

Be safe out there!

Edit: For you English speaking followers..
In the clip I'm talking about trolls. Not the internet kind. I'm talking about them trolls that are sleeping for thousands of years up in these hills. Oh, and singing about eating blueberrys... Now you know my depth.. 😆 by @sokahldogs

Chicken, eggs, flowers and an opinionated Terrier.

This week I'm taking care of the neighbors chicken. The dogs just love tagging along and investigating everything.
And here's the two personalities in a nutshell. Ture (the brown pittiemix) following me around and being right by my side all the time and then Ms. Ali Banana (white Parson russel). I interrupted her sniffing and she's making sure that I know how she feels about that, taking her time, demonstratively slow. I'm trying to explain to her that sometimes you need to shift into second gear but the look I get is:
- Dude I know how to drive and you know it! I'm a four wheel drive Mamajama and I'm taking all the time I need to get where I'm going.
And you know what.. this is one of the reasons I love her so much. Her independence, she's so self-contained and so opinionated. She's my first and she knows me inside and out. She very much like me. Our middle names isn't "Easy". We will tell you what we don't like!
Without any clue what I was getting my self into when I picked her up as a little pup, I got the dog I needed, to understand what dogs are about. It's been a long hard but wonderful journey and I'm so blessed having her as a teacher. Now she's 12 and still the same strong willed terrier as she was as a toddler. We get each other now and she reminds me everyday what a fantastic and beautiful soul she is! The integrity, her quirky ways, the big dog in a small frame, her ways of getting through to the dogs I work with, her willingness to engage and her soft side that invites me to be close to her and the connection we have together. She's remarkable!
So is Ture but in a completely different way. He's become a vital part in what I do too and these two together makes a perfect tag team! by @sokahldogs

Ali and Ture in the morning

When Ture first came to me he would react violently to new sounds and movements around the house and yard.
Fence fight the neighbors dog and explode running towards the perceived danger. I told him a couple of times that I didn't like what he was doing. Didn't give him an alternative because I wanted him to figure it out himself and he did. That resulted in him coming to me whenever he felt there was something cooking outside the fence telling me something is up. Now he makes a rumbling noise and comes running with a stiff body then he stays by my side and relaxes. Perfect!
Ali on the other hand keeps magpies, squirrels and mice of the property. A good thing since they steal everything that's not bolted down. Now we can leave things like food, fruits and trinkets out since she takes care of business. Ture Cares about what's outside their territory and Ali cares about what's inside the fence. Funny how that works. by @sokahldogs

Stillness = Luxury

Peace is what I long for. I can find it by myself and I do but being peaceful with a dear friend is something else. Something to lean into, something to cultivate.
David was staying at this little lake over night so I decided to join him and Melker.
The drive out there lasted for about 30 min. Turning away from the main road and into the back roads through the woods really set the tone. I just love driving by myself especially throughout the Forrest.
Arriving at the beautiful campsite was a treat. David made fire and we had some coffee. Talked for a while then we just sat there in silence. Watched Melker do his thing and enjoyed the scenery. Peacefully, precent and relaxed.

Love you Brother and thanks for inviting me over! by @sokahldogs

Barking up the wrong tree

Young Melker got confused when he barked and his echo barked back.
First time hearing his own voice talking back across the lake. Got to be that big bad Bullfrog I guess. 😆

Love you dude! by @sokahldogs

The magic isn't really magic..

What I have found out so far is that the link between me and my dogs originates in me being precent and participating with my dogs. See, that's what they give me. Their presence and participation is constant. They are so Intune with everything I am. The way I see it that's the least I can give back. To be with them.
If we are not precent we are not observing. If we are not observing we are not learning.
If we are not participating we are not feeling. If we are not feeling we are not understanding.

The root cause of all our problems stems from disconnect. That's all I know for now.

This clip is from today's walk with Iz&Buzz. Not much was said but a lot was experienced.
The dogs had a full day yesterday at the beach and today they just strolled along with us and we strolled along with them in silence.
It becomes almost like meditation.
Fully relaxed but with awareness.

The dogs bring me to the place where my spirit needs to be. No matter where we are. They are Zen.. by @sokahldogs

100 days of summer
According to the old Swedish farmers almanac 1 June - last day of August is the official summer. So let's make every day count.
We headed out to Little Hawaii. After removing an obstacle we had the beach all to ourselves. And let me tell you the dogs were all so joyful and happy to stretch out in total freedom. Exploring the new environment and each other.
It's become very clear that both Ture and Buddy prefer a one on one interaction. Both gentlemen takes a back seat when we have a larger group so it was so cool to see them interact in a new way. Actually the first time Buddy engages in play with Ture. Fantastic! They enjoyed it so much. Everybody also enjoyed the watermelon. Especially Buddy! 🍉 ❤️

Being small doesn't stop Ali! She's a great swimmer and she's used to paddle away in the wake of the others.
Man I get so happy to see them take everything in and enjoying the stay to the max!

Thank you Iza for excellent company as usual and let's go back soon!

Escaping the rain.

Water is truly a healing element but it can also be a trigger. I've seen dogs go fully neurotic when they splash in the water, totally unstoppable. Luckily these guys just love to explore this wet element. Getting them used to the different kinds of water, the still, the rapid, the safe crossings and the dangers is crucial if they're going to be able to explore freely.

We had to escape the rain and I remembered this place. I used to walk here a lot with a dear friend a couple of years ago. Returning was a delight. It's truly a healing place.
Everybody was so in it, present and adventures. Just like it's supposed to be!
Enjoy the scenery!

Thank you guys for a splendid afternoon! ❤️🤸🏼 by @sokahldogs

Last vacay post.. living on the road..
We didn't book anything but the house down on Skåne. On the way down we got lucky and found great quarters. First night the dogs except for Ali was a little bit unsettled. Second night in Skåne way better and by the time we landed the guys were chill. Check out the last clip with Ture and Melker. We stayed at the same Motel in Gränna and the slept the night through. Then in the morning Ture jumped up in David's bed beside Melker and this is what happened. I guess Ture wanted to chill but Melker had other plans. It's like Ture really could decide if he liked it or not! 😆 Off and on, off and on.. finally he'd had enough and jumped down from the bed! Hilarious! 🤣

Well, that's all folks! by @sokahldogs
