One wee corner by the lake, so much beauty and brilliant colour. This was our lunch and tea spot the past two weekends: a favourite place we return to again and again, away from the crowds, with the sound of the water, the rustling of the leaves, and the occasional chipmunk to keep us company…❤️🍁💛🍂🧡🐿️✨

October blooms for your Flower Friday. The asters in Vermont are still going strong, but we’re expecting a hard frost over the weekend, so I’m not sure if they’ll be able to hold up. 💜🌾🌸🌿🌼🍂✨

The joy of discovering a new trail: moving through a tunnel of gold, with the last bits of maple red peeking through the canopy, and the sound of fallen leaves crunching underfoot. It doesn’t get more Autumnal than this…❤️🍁💛🍂🧡✨
(The large boulders were left here by a glacier that moved through this region 10,000 years ago, creating the landscape we see today. The path is an old railroad trail.) by @solaceoftrees

I’m at the point where I have so many amazing Autumn foliage photos that I’m just choosing a few at random…not that I’m complaining, mind you! 😊 As always, these are true colours, no filters, no editing, just ‘peak’ foliage in one of my favourite spots with bright sunshine and a brilliant blue sky. Timing is everything…🧡🍁💛🍂✨

Taking a wee break from the fabulous Vermont foliage to share an amazing bird nerd moment from the trail last week, when a huge kettle of turkey vultures (Cathartes aura) appeared overhead. There were dozens of these massive birds gliding along, riding the wind currents; what a sight to see! They have a wingspan of up to 6.5 ft/2m wide and since they lack a syrinx, they don’t vocalize, so they just silently float over and you don’t realize they’re there until you look up! 😳 Luckily, turkey vultures aren’t birds of prey, they’re carrion eaters, so as long as you keep moving, you’ll be grand…😊❤️🪶🍂✨

A little Janis to accompany your Sunday foliage fix. 🥰 And yes, these colours are real, no editing, no filters. It’s like walking through a kaleidoscope. 😍 This has been a brilliant year for Autumn foliage and it’s all still happening…if you know where to look! ❤️🍁💛🍂🧡✨

View of the forest at sunset, where the leaves still glowed even after the sun slipped behind the mountains…❤️🍁💛🍂🧡🌄✨

Taking a break from Autumn leaves to share a lovely moment from this evening’s sunset in the Champlain Islands, looking east. I just loved the clouds and the soft colours of the sky and the lake at dusk…🩵🌊💕✨
