There’s something about those moments backstage that never gets easier for me. No matter how many launches I’ve done, I’m ✨always ✨nervous. But this year? The nerves hit a little harder... because we had 7 costumes waiting to meet the world for the very first time.

Months and months of planning, dreaming, refining (right until the last second! 🤦🏻‍♀️), changing, trusting the process, and pouring so much love into every single detail with an incredible team all led to those few unforgettable moments before the curtain opened.

‘Soul Empire of the Infinite’ was created to embody a realm where existence is shaped not by geography or time, but by movement, feeling, and becoming. It’s like our little universe where every masquerader transcends costume to embody a living force of nature, mythology, victory, chaos, transformation, and infinite flow.
Watching it all come to life reminded me why I do this.

The butterflies never leave, but neither does the gratitude. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this vision to life, and to every masquerader who chooses to step into this empire with us. 🤗❤️✨

Being a Course Leader for @carnivalcampus was truly an unforgettable experience! ❤️✨

I’ll be honest, I was nervous at first 😅 Stepping into this role came with its own set of emotions, but those nerves quickly turned into excitement, gratitude, and pure joy. Being part of a movement that creates opportunities for people to learn, explore, and appreciate the art of Carnival was such a rewarding experience. It reminded me that Carnival is a living, breathing expression of our identity, creativity, history, and culture. As a designer, to play a part in passing that knowledge on to others is something I’ll always cherish. 🇹🇹🥰

To my students: I hope you carry these lessons with you long after Carnival Campus. Stay curious. Be persistent. Keep asking questions. Keep creating. And never be afraid to take up space! There is room for your ideas, your vision, your talent, and your voice in this beautiful world that our culture continues to shape. Don’t wait for permission to shine. ✨ Trust your journey, honour your craft, and remember that you, too, have something valuable to contribute to the future of Carnival.

Thank you to the Carnival Campus team, for allowing me to be part of this incredible journey. I came in nervous, but I’m leaving inspired, fulfilled, and even more passionate about the power of our culture to educate, connect, and transform. 💡

Day 3 was all about turning ideas into something you can see and feel 🎨✨

Students explored different materials, learning how texture, colour and detail can shape a design, before creating mood boards inspired by the materials that spoke to them most.

After 17+ years in the Carnival industry, I’ve learned how important it is to have the right people sharing their knowledge along the way

That’s why I’m so excited to join @carnivalcampus as a co-instructor for “Material Selection and Bodywear Decorating” and co-teacher for “Designing for Body Types”

There’s something so incredibly special about seeing a piece of Carnival live beyond the moment it was created for. 🥹

Seeing @angelahunte wear the skirt from the 2023 @losttribecarnival Vitelli costume to the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards honestly warmed my heart in a way I can’t quite put into words.

That print was uniquely created for this design, and to see it being loved, fabulously worn and given another life feels like such a beautiful reminder of what sustainability in Carnival can look like. As costume designers, we create these pieces with so much intention, so when they continue to journey, to be styled differently, to show up in new spaces and new memories…. THAT is the magic. ✨

And of course, this moment feels extra special because, well, it’s Angela. A woman who has inspired me in so many ways, a Grammy-Award winning icon, a true rockstar mother, and a Carnival woman who continues to show up with so much joy, energy and love for Trinbagonian and Caribbean culture. 🇹🇹✨

I love when the costume gets to keep living. I love when our creativity gets to have a life beyond one day. And I LOVE seeing one of our Vitelli pieces out in the world, still making a statement.

Sometimes the most beautiful part of creating is knowing that the thing you made can keep going. Can keep being loved. Can keep making memories.
