The lodge had a snack bar, ski shop, rentals, and National Ski Patrol keeping everyone safe. Just 10 miles north of Fairfield, overlooking the Camas Prairie. Before the chairlifts, the lodge deck and the lift tickets, there were the people. 🎿 Soldier Mountain began with rope tows, a log lodge and a snowcat lettered SOLDIER MTN. SKI LIFT. It ran on neighbors who showed up for it, season after season. In this chapter of Tracks In Time: Soldier Stories, we’re slowing down to look at the faces: Sten + LeVard, Doran + Clara, Dean Funk, Roy Wright, Ed Gunning, Dee Edwards, John Click, Sonny Henry, Grace Click, Dave Wheeler, Carol Goeckner, Pat Bishop and Jerry Ostler. Some of these portraits come from scrapbook pages with names written in by hand. Others were still piecing together. Do you know someone in these photos?
