I have been waiting to post this for a while, but I think it was because I couldn't find the right words to describe this experience. In late November to the middle of December my cohort had the opportunity to go to Ecuador and serve the communities that didn't have access to basic healthcare. While we were in Ecuador, we got to spend three days in the hospital in the middle of the city working in different departments. We did pop-up clinics in communities that could not get access to healthcare due to not having transportation or it just not being available, and we got to travel into the Amazon rainforest to give care to larger communities. To say that this was an experience I'll remember forever is an understatement. We went to Ecuador with open hearts, open minds, and blinders on to what we thought the world really was. Once arriving in Ecuador, our hearts were full of all the children smiles and the families hugs as we were there to help them. Our eyes are no longer blind anymore to what the world goes through outside of the United States. This experience and getting to dive into a culture that was not my own was some thing I would do again, and again if I had the opportunity. It wasn't about the three days in the Galapagos islands at the end of the trip and it wasn't about all of the cool shopping and food we got to eat it was about hearing the children laugh when you gave them a sticker and a coloring book because they never had the chance to have those before. It was about hugging the families that were just so blessed to have us there and receive the care when they knew they couldn't get it elsewhere.

This trip was solely about being able to spread the love that the Lord has put within our hearts to those who feel so disconnected from the world, and about planting the seed of our gods faith in other people. This trip is one I will never forget, and I am thankful every day that I got to be a part of something so big, that was far bigger than myself.
