A charge of wildebeest crosses a river en masse. These images show a large group of wildebeest crossing a major river as part of one of the world's largest animal migrations. The dramatic pictures were taken by Hung Tsui at the northern Mara River of Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. A gull tries to steal fish from a gannet, creating a mid-air 'tug of war'. The photos of the struggle for the fish were taken by Mark Yeung near the island of Bass Rock, Scotland. The wildlife photographer said that the dramatic fight only lasted for around two seconds, but because the gannet was 'larger and stronger', it won the fish. We really didn’t have long to get the photos for this one as while practising the rope burnt through in less than 90 seconds, sending @johnny_fish_accidentprone to the ground. Great to see it make @thetimes. Good luck to Johnny Fish this weekend, who is in preparation for a stunt that will see him descend 85 foot down a burning rope in a record breaking attempt. The daredevil former paratrooper plans to set another world record, a stunt that is eerily similar to a stunt that took a life, last time it was attempted. John Bream will be attempting the dangerous stunt Burning Rope Rappel, which could result in severe injury or even death. Starting 85 foot off the ground a rope will be lit before John starts his descent, climbing down the rope to get to the bottom before the rope burns through, similar to the iconic scene from Home Alone 2 when Kevin lights a rope dipped in kerosene as burglars Harry and Marv descend down the side of the derelict building. He will be attempting it with no safety backup wire or rope. He said, “I don’t even know if it can be completed at this height, as it’s never been attempted. I’m an accident-prone daredevil, but I hope this one is incident-free.” The father of three from Waterlooville, Hants, is busy training for the big day, attempting his stunt in front of thousands expected at the Lincfest music festival in Horndean, Hampshire, this weekend, 11th July. He likens himself to ‘modern day Evel Knievel mixed with Frank Spencer’.Back in July 1981, British escapologist Trevor Revell was strapped into a straitjacket and hoisted approximately 30 feet in the air, suspended by a burning rope. The person who died was British escapologist Trevor Revell, who perished after a failed stunt during a street party celebrating the wedding of Princess Diana and King Charles (then Prince Charles). The rope burned through much faster than anticipated, causing the escapologist to plunge head-first onto a concrete paving slab. He later died in hospital from his injuries.
