Tradition is powerful, but when it skips a generation, our stories can be lost.

I wrote “A Creole Lullaby” after receiving my diagnosis, during one of the darkest yet most spiritual times of my life. In that uncertainty, my ancestors reminded me that we live on through what we leave behind.

Lullabies have always been part of my family, so I wrote one in Louisiana Creole for my daughters. Something they could hold onto forever. Something no storm could wash away and no missing generation could erase.

This is the visual I have always dreamed of for this song. It is for my daughters and all of our little ones. May they always know they are protected, deeply loved, and forever connected to those who came before them. 🤎

The stories are just as important as the songs.

When we first released this album and the “Dey Say Run” video in May, I never imagined how many people would see their own families in it.

As a mother, a daughter, and a storyteller, that’s why I make music: To honor where we come from, preserve the stories that shaped us, and leave something beautiful for the next generation. 🐊✨

Proud to be a 9th generation daughter of Louisiana, sharing our stories. Sharing home.

Happy Mother’s Day 💐💕

“Dey Say Run” official music video OUT NOW on YouTube (🔗 in bio)

This song is about my childhood.
My grandmother. My mother. My daughters.
And the love that carries us through generations.

Getting to capture three generations of my family in this video is something I’ll cherish forever.

I hope one day my girls can look back and feel how much love I poured into this for them. 🤍

MERCI BEAUCOUP to

Mothers, daughters, legacy, our roots.…this album means even more to me now.

Photographed holding my grandmother, my mother, and my great great grandmother, I understand so much more deeply the importance of the women in my family keeping our stories alive through generations. The mothers. The eldest daughters. The women who carried memory, love, and tradition forward.

On Louisiana Love, I wrote “Dey Say Run” reminiscing about my childhood. Now my daughters are singing on that same song.

This Mother’s Day hits different. 🤍

THANK YOUUUUUU to my tribe :

Same day. 🙌🏽🔥
Closing Lagniappe Stage at Jazzfest… and on the cover of the Living section in The Times-Picayune @nolanews

A dream I didn’t even know how to dream.

Thank you Keith Spera for the beautiful write up.

But the real moment was this…
Sharing this album with y’all.
My daughter’s singing with me.
My mama and Papa Barnes beaming in the crowd as I dedicated this to my ancestors, my family.…to mothers and to all of us searching for home, joy, and light.

And the fact that so many of you stayed to the end of the show just to be there with me… I will never forget that.

Thank you for dancing. Thank you for singing.

We’re flying higher from here together 🐦✨

Festival season… this album release season doesn’t owe me anything.

Y’all showed UP for Louisiana Love and I feel every bit of it. Keep it on repeat. Keep requesting it on radio. Let’s take this all the way.

Independent, but moving with purpose. My city behind me. Louisiana in my heart. I’m ready to soar.

Make you proud. Let’s fly, Songbirds 🕊️✨

Happy debut album release day… and this one means something deeper.

#LouisianaLove isn’t just music I made. This is music that was entrusted to me.

Every voice, every instrument, every moment on this album carries the spirit of Louisiana. From zydeco to Cajun, from New Orleans rhythm to traditions passed down through generations, this is all of us.

I’m thinking about every artist and musician who said yes and poured into this:

Thank y’all so much for believing in this and believing in me. This project, what it means for my family, my lineage, and the culture we come from, I don’t take that lightly.

That’s not small. That’s legacy.

We don’t just make this music. We carry it. We protect it. We pass it on.
