Solitude World is a Singapore-based company co-founded by Andrew Lok and Kit Chung. From Singapore, our management team works closely with the resort and vessel teams across our destinations, keeping our operations connected while allowing each place to retain its own character.

BEFORE YOU PRESS THE SHUTTER, PAUSE.

The moment begins before you lift the camera. Stay back, settle and watch. Notice repeated behaviour and any changes your presence might cause. Even while your buddy has a turn, you can anticipate where a natural moment might unfold.

P - Pause: take in the whole scene.
A - Assess: check your buoyancy, position, buddy, air and time.
U - Understand: read the subject's natural rhythm.
S - Set: choose your frame, then wait.
E - Ease away: leave the subject space and know when to move on.

PAUSE does not mean missing a fleeting moment. A burst can be deliberate when behaviour calls for it; it should not replace watching and choosing. Talk with your buddy about what each of you hopes to photograph, keep an eye on your shared dive plan and let the subject decide what happens. Never move or prompt an animal to force the image you imagined. If a moment does not happen, there is always another dive and something new to discover.

The subject is not a prop. It is a living part of the place we have entered. REAL FOCUS encourages photographers to slow down, observe and work with what naturally unfolds. The photograph matters, but not at the cost of the animal, its behaviour or its surroundings.

Put the subject first. Let the moment unfold.

Underwater, some of the strongest moments are the ones we allow to unfold naturally. Slow down. Read the animal's behaviour. Give the subject space and allow the encounter to develop without interference. REAL FOCUS asks photographers to place the welfare of marine life before the photograph. The image matters, but so does the way it was made.

Create thoughtfully, observe carefully and make every frame meaningful.

Plan your stay for at least three nights at Solitude Acacia Resort or Solitude Lembeh Resort between 15 February and 30 April 2027.

Create eligible images during the event, following the category, ethics and authorship rules. Hand in the original, unedited RAW files before checking out, then upload the edited versions of those same images through your 3SIXTY account by 31 May 2027.
