Spooky stories of the dental office 👻 🦷

Even though we don’t place amalgams much anymore we do have to remove amalgams and having an amalgam separator is a must for any dental office.

The amalgam separator ensures that a glam is safely contained and isn’t getting into you vacuum lines.

Each week check your amalgam level to see if it is still below the line and if it needs to be replaced.

Pro tip: check in the morning before the vacuum is tinted on so all the sediment is fully resting at the bottom of the container.

What do your vacuum lines look like beneath the surface?

In this side-by-side comparison, one practice checked its collection container after 2.5 months and found sludge buildup. Another used just 1 oz of PowerScrub® per chair, per day, and found little more than dust after 5 months.

A cleaner collection container can be a sign of a cleaner evacuation system. Is your container clear enough to shine a light through? 💡

Who's responsible for waterline safety in your office? Join us in episode 785 of The Dr. Phil Klein Dental Podcast with Angela Simmons.

We put the most responsibility on the person with the least education, pay, and respect — the dental assistant. When they're overloaded, visible tasks get done. But waterline maintenance and spore testing? Those are what slip. And if there's a problem in one office, it's probably happening in all of them.

The first sign your evacuation lines need attention? Usually your suction.

When buildup accumulates inside evacuation lines, performance can suffer.

This video breaks down how PowerScrub® works, why its scrubbing technology matters, and how to incorporate it into your daily routine.
