INSPIRATION → CREATION⁠For our MAC Panama submission, Brote Urbano, the conversation included Lina Bo Bardi's São Paulo Museum of Art and Clorindo Testa's Banco de Londres—two iconic works that challenged conventional ideas about structure, public space, and civic life.⁠⁠Brote Urbano builds upon those ideas through a new cultural, climatic, and ecological lens, creating a proposal rooted in Panama and designed for the future. We view the city as a living geological formation—an accumulation of history, transit, and community that transforms over time. Layered Urbanism: GWBB / ARAUCO reimagined Pier Luigi Nervi’s George Washington Bridge Bus Station as a layered landscape linking Manhattan, the Bronx, and New Jersey. This semester's graduating #GSAPP class proposed new layers of housing, ecology, and low-carbon technology within the existing megastructure, understanding the city as an evolving geological formation.⁠⁠By prioritizing social needs alongside technical precision, these projects offer a blueprint for a more integrated Upper Manhattan.
