When I first started my music journey both Jessica and the A Records team were such a huge inspiration and seeing them pave the way for up and coming artists of all cultures and backgrounds has been amazing. Today, I feel especially proud to be a Marylander.

For years, immigrant families, advocates and educators have been organizing, testifying, and pushing for real change. This year, that work turned into law, both here in Baltimore County and across Maryland.

In Baltimore County, we passed protections against discrimination and civil immigration enforcement by County agencies, we formally created the Office of Immigrant Affairs to ensure long-term support and outreach for immigrant communities and we held an emergency session to ban private detention centers in Baltimore County. At the state level, Maryland ended 287(g) agreements, which is a major step toward restoring trust between communities and law enforcement.

These efforts are a huge reason that I chose public service and I was honored to be part of the Bill signing with Governor @govwesmoore at the state level and I am also incredibly thankful for the courage and leadership of @councilmanizzy (our next County Executive)

This is what it looks like when organizing turns into policy. There is still a lot of work ahead but we will outwork anyone.
