If your day started with a light switch or a fully charged phone, this video is for you.

Because 280,000 families in Malaysia still wake up without those options.
No light. No power. No way to charge a phone, or study after dark.

But things are changing.

In Orang Asli/Asal (indigenous) villages once left in the dark, homes are now being powered with clean solar energy - through a solution built with them, not just for them.

This video tells that story.

- A story of what fair energy access can look like.
- A story of the perseverance our Orang Asli and Orang Asal (indigenous) communities have.
- A story of why they shouldn’t just benefit from energy justice, they should lead it.

And that story made it to the Energy Asia Awards 2025, where it stood among the region’s most impactful energy innovations.

Watch. Share. Join the mission by clicking the link in our bio.
Let’s build a Malaysia where no one gets left behind 💛

Across rivers, forests, and hillsides, Orang Asli & Orang Asal (Indigenous) communities that have been waiting for electricity are finally getting it.

This is what Kampung Solar looks like on the ground with our Energy Access team.

On 31 July, @uob.my volunteers joined our team on the ground in Lipis, Pahang. Together they installed solar across 22 homes in Kampung Tempayan and Kampung Tapew, reaching 81 villagers.

Follow us to stay updated on where Kampung Solar goes next.

Before the skills, the mindset. The technical training is only part of what Solar Academy offers. Alongside it, students go through motivation sessions and personal development classes because one of the main goals of Solar Academy is to develop people.

Communication, confidence, resilience. These are the things that follow a person long after the programme ends.

Sales class, taught by the Deputy CEO himself, Jaran Walia.

This is how seriously we take developing the people who come through Solar Academy.

Back in 2025 they were here as Solar Academy practical students. Now they are part of the full-time team at SOLS Energy.

We like this kind of update 🤙

You don't just install solar and leave. Sharing meals with the Orang Asli villagers is part of what makes Kampung Solar different. We're not contractors, we're community.

@uob.my Malaysia didn't just sponsor Solar Academy. They showed up on 19 September, laced up, and played.

That's what this partnership looks like in practice and our students met them on the court.

Thank you, UOB Malaysia. Year after year, on and off the court.

As promised, we got Hamdan to sing a teaser of an Orang Asli song 😁
