Testing on wider race tires (by GCN and others)shows they can match or beat the rolling resistance of narrower 28mm tires when run at lower, vibration-absorbing pressures. So its been trendy to try to squeeze the biggest tire possible onto your carbon wonder bike. This trend is awesome for Pescadero and Fog Cutter owners, because now you have more options in lighter casing, performance road tires in 35mm and up. One of the lesser discussed cool things about a tandem is it has no non-drive side, so it looks nice whether you shoot it from the right or the left! 🤳 We still have stock of the It Takes Two, our tandem modeled after @rivbike ‘s Hubbuhubbuh (with their blessing). It is a big, stout bike, but with surprisingly lots of standover height on both sizes. And the geo is designed for backswept bars, which is an unusual feature on higher end tandems. Jill stopped by the shop with this beautiful Univega Mixte and a pretty cool request: she wanted the bike to be part of her wedding photos. She had the vision. We knew exactly what to do. 🔧✨ Brakes, fenders, updated crankset, saddle, cockpit… and plenty of little details reimagined by Beth, our resident vintage curator. We think we nailed it. What is happening here? Well… quite much. Our customer expressed the desire of painting his @somafab WOLVERINE with alchol colors while still keeping the brushed steel of the frame visible and he gave us a mockup with color palette and positions to use as a rough guide line to follow while working, which by the way with such an hard to control media to work with like the alchol ink is not that bad. He wanted different shades of blue and green, himts of copper and the steel peaking through. So here it is his custom Soma: alchol ink on a transparent primer, burned gold leaf for the customized somafab graphics and brushed steel. #somabikes #customsoma #alcholink #custombikepaint #velociao by @somafab

Tom’s Custom Soma Wolverine is a beautiful big bold classic steel bike in Pumpkin Orange. We have a bit of a soft spot for straight blade steel forks, and this one has all the modern features, flat mount brakes, through axles and big tyre clearance. The rest of the build is a mix of classic and bling, Chris King headset, Thomson stem and seatpost, GRX groupset and Reserve Alloy wheels.
