Since I’ve made a strong return to socials after 4 years since posting I thought it’ll make sense to introduce myself as the creative adult Ive become in those years away!

I’m Dan ( yes just Dan jaja) I know my bio says multidisciplinary artist but in the way life has taken me it feels like I live multiple lives in one ( and I wouldn’t have it any other way)

If we follow the time line…

I was a teen human rights/youth climate activist, led youth climate marches across London, one of our first ones reaching over 50k students across the UK and continue using my voice and platform to speak on and share awareness.

𝖂𝖍𝖔 𝖎𝖘 𝕯𝖆𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖜𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖉𝖔 𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖞 𝖉𝖔?
Had a revolutionary recreation of a childhood movie 🌚🏛️ (guess it in the comments)
After this the Natural History Museums tie with their past big sponsor (S)hell ended!!

16 year old me first TV presence was in a doc with BBC on the student led climate marches ( have a lot to speak on this topic… let’s just say that).I have written pieces on my experience of longing and the effect of western climate ignorance on the rest of the world which were included in 2 books, so 16 year old me became a published author (?) and interviewee.

𝖂𝖍𝖔 𝖎𝖘 𝕯𝖆𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖜𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖉𝖔 𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖞 𝖉𝖔?
I was streetcasted and that led to my first & second modelling gig being with Adidas, first one commercial shoot for their adidas x London campaign.

𝖂𝖍𝖔 𝖎𝖘 𝕯𝖆𝖓 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖜𝖍𝖆𝖙 𝖉𝖔 𝖙𝖍𝖊𝖞 𝖉𝖔?
Second one , which 16 year old me could not believe, was when I was handpicked to share my story as a creative teen first-gen migrant, one who felt too eccentric back home and here back then(!) this felt súper accepting and healing. It’s probably one of the first times I felt seen for who I am as a whole, an eccentric queer (bby then) migrant! Also south east London representeeeee! BIG UP SE❤️‍🔥

For #earthday I wanted to unlock the time capsule and share a @letterstotheearth_ poem I wrote when I was 17, “A place I call home” (slide 2&3) I was lucky enough for it to be published alongside other youth activists.
( you can still grab the book online “Letters to the Earth: Writing to a Planet in Crisis”)

As a present homage to the pachamama I hold dearest I selected this look to begin my series of “Pachamama on canvas”.
The plant that inspired this look is ‘Calethea Makoyana’ native to the tropical rainforest of South America, which I photographed last year at @kewgardens Peruvian orchid festival.

Ever since I got into makeup my way to describe what drove that passion was that I see the face as a canvas and creating editorial makeup looks for me reflected that, my first ever “out there” makeup look I did as an early teen was inspired by the hues of the holographic green-pink tones pigeons have on their neck, nature/mother earth ( pachamama) has always been my makeup inspiration.

𝑭𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝒄𝒍𝒊𝒑 𝒐𝒇 𝒃𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒉𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐𝒖𝒓 - 𝑱𝒂𝒏
We did our international putivuelta, after having a hard year as individuals, I am so grateful some of my most cared for people took me up on a care-free ( but meticulously planned by me) trip across Spanish cities, club after club, train station to beach and some how it turned into the most healing but beautiful chaotic experience. This is what being a queer latin individual is about, the pain we carry as migrants and the extensive healing we have to do to end our generational trauma/cycles , it may seem like non-sense or just dancing to some but our ancestors know how important moving your body as a community is, the amount of tension & trauma we release in the process, something Ive started calling somatic twerking. Editing is still a long process but I hope you all enjoy the journey as I release glimpses of the best birthday of my life ( for now💋)

Ps. Is about time our life and experiences are directed, produced and recorded by us!

Made sure to get rid of weight by thinning and shortening the back whilst hair sculpting to not get rid of those gorgeous waves that shape the back of the hair!

@santixsanchex has done what I can only describe in 3 “words”:
iconic, revolutionary & the fashion-of-the-now,
this Mexican styled runway is so incredibly important not just to him as a migrant
but for Mexican visibility specially in London where certain Latam countries
are underrepresented, it has been an incredible experience to have seen this first hand
and to see so many of my dear friends diva-ing on the run walk.
Besitos mis bbs.💋

Thank you so much to @britishfilminstitute and @chucha.uk for this opportunity, as an emerging creative hearing Guillermo Del Toro’s (congratulation on your BFI Fellowship award @gdtreal ) bts experience as a Latin artist/director has been so inspiring and a truly enriching experience. His words & knowledge hold so much power and I’m so grateful to see that someone at his high status freely speaks on the negligence of the use of AI specially when it comes to the arts. We must continue to create with our soul & our experiences no shortcut is ever gonna transmit that human touch. And what is art if not an extension of our soul in physicality.
