kori making zines again… 👉👈 put together a spontaneous zine about GZ for the upcoming @zine___dream ! i went through my camera roll and pulled photos i took during my trips back home from 2024-2026 it records moments of grief and reminisce in places that felt both unfamiliar and nostalgic. those patterns of my childhood home, street corners, and favorite 糖水舖 are always in my dream… seeing them printed feels very unreal but weirdly healing🥺 it's printed in four-colour risograph. the text is in traditional chinese, with link to english translation at the end if you’re coming to zine dream this saturday, it’ll be at @someprintstudio’s table. come say hi! taken in 东湖公园 by @someprintstudio

《拜訪十月的山谷》 《Visiting the Valley in October》 (Limited quantities available. If interested, please DM me directly.) “記得剛抵達面向馬路的駐留小屋時，車輛引擎聲從左耳傳至右耳，直至在遠方消失。視覺上，這如同單點透視中的「消失點」。我迅速繪製了這兩週的第一張聲音地圖，並以此作為這本小誌的封面。對我而言，這代表了一種垂直的聲景，並延伸為垂直的地景。這種「垂直性」不僅來自公路，也來自流經 Keremeos 河谷的河流。” “I remember when I first arrived at a lodge with the road as its main view, I could hear the drone of engines panning from my left ear to my right, lingering until they faded into the distance. I envisaged that as a resemblance of a vanishing point in a point-projection perspective. I quickly sketched a sound map, as shown on the cover of this zine — my first sketch of the series for this residency. For me, that represented a vertical soundscape, and to a certain extent, a vertical landscape. Such “verticality” was substantiated not only by the highway, but also by the river flowing through the Keremeos Valley.” 這本書是我2025年10月位於加拿大卑詩省 Keremeos 的河谷作鎮藝術家駐留其間透過當地的「聲景」（soundscape）來理解「地景」（landscape），作為發展一套適用於不同場域的田野調查方法的試練場。在短短兩星期經常透過跑步和騎車往來河谷兩邊、透過詩作、田野錄音和聲景地圖記錄各種天然與人為交織的聆聽經驗，也是田野研究實踐的一部分。 This book documents my October 2025 artist residency in Keremeos, a small town in a river valley in British Columbia, Canada, which offered an opportunity for my praxis of understanding a landscape through its soundscape. My goal was to develop a field research method that could be adopted in different places. Over two brief weeks, I moved constantly between the two sides of the valley, threading back and forth by running and biking. my last zine for a while! PYGMALION places images of female bodies performing ballet next to images of stone ruins. it takes place in three parts (childhood, adolescence, adulthood), slowly zooming out as it progresses. the zine feels disciplined, cold, and rigid; it strives to make itself orderly. femininity, especially racialized femininity, so often involves learning a correct way of being. we learn what the right bodies do and how they move. we carve the raw material we have, we punish ourselves for its lack, its excess, its ugliness. we mould our bodies into designed structures and force ourselves to live in them correctly. these projects inevitably end in some kind of ruin. pygmalion is the mythic greek sculptor who fell in love with his own creation, choosing his constructed idea of a woman over an actual one. aphrodite breathes life into the nameless sculpture, who lives alongside her creator thereafter. we ‘feminine creatures’ assume the roles of pygmalion, his statue, and aphrodite all at once. we painstakingly shape ourselves into a form we deem worthy of life and love, then we must live with and within what we’ve made: these crumbling bodies whose unforgiving structure restricts us and holds us together. Some Print Studio workshops are back this July! Join us for a two-session Digital Drawing + Riso Printing Workshop at San Cafe @sancafe.meow Part 1 focuses on how to create and prepare files in Procreate/Photoshop for Riso printing. This is a great opportunity to share Riso tips and learn from each other while enjoying yummy drinks and treats! Artists and designers of any Riso experience level are welcome; basic digital drawing knowledge is required. In part 2, we’ll print the artwork created during Sip-n-Draw and take home 20 copies of an 8.5" × 11" print. Part 1 (Sip-n-Draw): Sunday, July 19 • 3–5 PM Part 2 (Riso Printing, no drinks and foods): Wednesday, July 29 • 6–9 PM *Attendance at both sessions is required. We Print Photobooks with RISO About a year before we founded our RISO studio in LA, we had already been running Unpress / 紙漿合作社, an independent publishing collective, for around two years. In the beginning, we were simply three photography graduates from California College of the Arts who loved making books. Later, one of our members moved to Toronto, acquired a RISO printer, and founded a Risograph print studio. Since then, we have been making photobooks with RISO more and more frequently. James Wicks is an artist and documentary filmmaker from San Diego. Exactly one year ago, he submitted a photography series to us by email: a body of work made during his time living in Taiwan, focusing on street potted plants. After a year of preparation, the book was finally printed in four colors on RISO by our Unpress member in Toronto, who also runs our sister RISO printshop, @someprintstudio . This April, the project was officially published as a limited-edition photobook of 100 copies: Plants as Roadblock as Graffiti Tomorrow, May 8 at 1 PM, James Wicks will be signing books at the @unpressedpatch booth, K10, at the LA Art Book Fair. by @someprintstudio
