“The show is called Blue Season, and the colour blue was used strategically. One of the characters appears to have a complex past life, so he was always dressed in cooler tones such as a blue shirt. All the murderous and violent aspects of the story had a cooler tone to suggest a hint of sadness and doom.”

Mari Yamamura explains how she ensured lighting and scenes were consistent throughout all six episodes of Blue Season, and that the programme had an interesting visual arc to aid the narrative.

Taunton Flower Show seems to be as lively as ever this year. Hope it keeps going. I had a fantastic time, seeing interesting things and meeting new people. I also got a very tall ratchet lopper with double toothed Japanese saw for my growing hedges and alpaca sweater for the winter😀

I know I didn’t have enough skills to complete it as a polished film and the music is far from ideal but I created it with no previous experience within 24 hours. Curiosity and the attempt to overcome the fear of unknown are the reasons why I attended The Big Screen Hack London 2026 @thebigscreenhack, 48 hour AI Film Challenge organised by @ed_rigg and the team, last weekend. The theme was “Into The Unknown”.

I have never made any AI films before, let alone knowing any of the software that we were given the access to over the weekend with unlimited credit.

The beauty of it is that you can try to create what is on your mind directly into a visual film on your own and you don’t have to self-sensor when you write a script regarding the scale or the budget.

Here is a short section of what I created as part of the programme. If I can do that without any previous experience whatsoever in 24 hours, I felt it’s an incredibly powerful new tool for storytelling. It will never be as good as conventional filmmaking and real actors acting for a specific script, and it’s a quite frustrating experience to create something new from what already exists, but I think it will have its place in the future art form just like painting, photography, TV did.

I used Popcorn @popcorn.coai to create this film. It was very intuitive to use for an absolute novice like me and I enjoyed the experience.

“Blue Season”, TV Mini Series I DPed, is in Cannes Film Market, mentioned in @variety magazine issued on May 12, 2026. “Blue Season” is also shortlisted for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at the Global Production Awards 2026 by Screen International @screendaily. Winners will be announced on 18th May in Cannes.
