“Luminence”

About the concept behind this series:

SELAH is a Biblical term which means “to pause”.
In this series I wanted to focus on the moment of The Pause.
All of us, at one point or another, need to take a break or a pause from ( the pulling, the straining, the draining) of our regular routine. A moment where we can just be to ourselves for some rest, some quiet time, some reflection, some meditation, some rejuvenation… maybe even some fortification. ~ James by @somethingforyoursoul

A special note✨from Artist, James E. Murphy Jr….

Full disclosure… this is my very first time producing an edition of Remarque Prints and I am really pleased with the way they are turning out. And I couldn’t think of a more deserving image from my Art Portfolio to remarque other than my piece, I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE as we celebrate 20yrs of my creation of this piece.
Pictured here are just two of the 20 total that I will be releasing soon. Each signed & numbered print will have an original one-of-a-kind ballpoint pen drawing in its lower right corner.
Each drawing will complement the overall essence & concept that my piece, I Am Because You Are embodies. by @somethingforyoursoul

Celebrating 20yrs of I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE…
I’m happy to share with y’all that I’m working on a special s/n Remarque Edition of my image, I Am Because You Are.

In accordance with this 20 year anniversary of my creation of the original graphite pencil drawing, there will ONLY be 20 Remarque Prints produced.
Each Remarque Print will have its own one-of-a-kind original drawing of a subject that complements the essence of I Am Because You Are… Prints will be available for purchase soon. by @somethingforyoursoul

A special note from Artist, James E Murphy Jr…

It’s TIME to Celebrate 🥳!
Hard to believe that it has been 20 years since I created my piece, I AM BECAUSE YOU ARE!
From the original graphite pencil drawing immediately selling at Artscape Baltimore in 2004 to the selling of several prints of the image at the recent 2025 Kunta Kinte Heritage Festival in Annapolis, “I Am Because You Are” continues to be my most popular & beloved image.
Over the years it has been added to the Collections of numerous Art Enthusiasts. It has been graciously purchased as gifts for more weddings & anniversaries than I can calculate.

To commemorate this milestone 20yr Anniversary of my piece, I wanted to offer my Collectors something special,
so yall stay tuned… more details to follow by @somethingforyoursoul
