Curaçao has only recorded one direct hurricane landfall and it was in 1877. This is a great place to go Sep-Nov, unlike most Caribbean destinations which are risky that time of year. 🏝️

Here's the scoop:

-Find a cheap flight (or use points) to Miami and then book your flight to Curaçao from there! (This saved us hundreds)
-Stay at the 4 star @avilabeachhotel for less than $300/night
-Rent a car for a day trip up to Westpunt to swim with the sea turtles and stop at Playa Porto Mari to hang with pigs on the beach
-Book a boat trip to the little island- Klein Curaçao with @bluefinncharters
-Have brunch at @numbertencuracao
-Visit Tugboat Beach to snorkel near a shipwreck
-Visit the Curaçao Liquor Distillery to see where the original Blue Curaçao is made (and bring home a bottle for a super cool souvenir!) 🩵

🔹 I grew up in Michigan but moved to Nashville, TN on a whim when I was 22 and haven't looked back since!
🔹 My first trip abroad was to Greece with my childhood BFF in 2017. That's when I really caught the travel bug.
🔹I met my husband on Bumble and we booked flights to Cuba on our third date 😳😆
🔹My "day job" is working as a bridal hair & makeup artist. I've been in the beauty industry since 2005.

Next time you have a free Saturday or Sunday, do this!

I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for a good brunch with a view and you'll get both of those here. It's worth the drive, I swear!!!

📍Riverdance Restaurant- Guild, TN

But the real magic comes when sunset hits, so do what we did and plan a later brunch then hang by the fire, grab a glass of wine and wait for sunset. If you get there early and beat the sunset crowd, you'll get a good spot by the fire. This is the best way to do it, trust me! 🌅

The hack that made my dreams come true!!

Y'all know I love my @chasesapphire Reserve card for so many travel perks, but you may not know that @marriottbonvoy occasionally teams up with them for an insane points transfer bonus. It is the only reason I got to stay at this unbelievable 5-star safari camp in Tanzania that I really had my heart set on!

You can get a 70% points bonus now through October 15 if you transfer Chase points to Marriott. That means if you transfer 100k points, you will get an extra 70k Marriott points! Truly insane. 🤯

Anyone else a sucker for a good hotel balcony?!

📍@thezhotel, Zanzibar

This is the Oceanfront Cottage room and they only have 2 of these on the property! Z Hotel is a fabulous boutique hotel in Nungwi Beach- the absolutely gorgeous northernmost part of Zanzibar.

For how fabulous this oceanfront room is, it really didn't cost us as much as you might think. It was less than $500 per night during the busy season! I could have gotten a different room at this hotel for almost half the price but it was my birthday and I wanted this balcony ya know???

There's a time and a place to splurge a little and this was one of those times and places! 😎

Must-know facts before planning your trip:

-The island is much bigger than you think!
-We spent 2 nights on the east side in Pingwe Beach and 3 nights on the northern part in Nungwi Beach.
-Swimming with the turtles is touristy but worth it!
-Do not rent a car. Hire a reputable driver to take you around, trust me!
-Make sure you eat at @therockzanzibar and plan your reservation during high tide!
-A traditional dhow boat day is a must.
-One day in Stone Town was enough.
-Make sure you bring home coffee!!! Best we've ever had.
-Use @navani.adventure for all your tours, activities & transportation. They are the best!

When your heart says Caribbean but your wallet says Michigan...

Whenever I show my southern friends (who have never been to Michigan) videos like this, they truly cannot believe a beach like this exists in the Midwest because it looks JUST like the ocean.

There's truly nothing like a Lake Michigan sunset and if you've never been to the west side of MI, you're truly missing out! It's perfect for an affordable beach trip with no sharks or saltwater! 🌅🌊

Some of my favorite lakeside towns on the west side of Michigan are:
-St. Joseph
-South Haven
-Saugatuck
-Grand Haven
