Let's talk about the one thing every plastic surgery patient hates: the drain tubes. In my Beverly Hills practice, I see it every day—the procedure went perfectly, but the patient is frustrated by those little tubes!

Drains are vital because they prevent fluid from building up at your surgical site. I use a soft stitch to minimize pain, but because the tube is a foreign object, skin irritation is just part of the process. They stay for 1 to 4 weeks, but I promise the relief you feel when they come out is instant.

Everyone wants a natural result, but not everyone knows that the "where" matters just as much as the "what." In Beverly Hills, we look at your natural tissue first. Above the muscle works if you have enough coverage to hide the implant. If you're looking for a softer look—or if you're starting with less tissue—going under the muscle is the secret to results that don't look "done."

Did you know silicone implants were off the market for a while? 🛑 In the 80s and 90s, the US stopped using them over leaking fears. At my Beverly Hills clinic, patients often ask about safety. Modern cohesive implants changed everything—they have thicker shells and the silicone stays set even if there's a rupture. They are safe and effective.

Speeding up your recovery in Beverly Hills involves more than just rest. We use a comprehensive approach for our plastic surgery patients, combining specific supplements like Juvent with Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. It is also vital to manage GLP-1 medications properly during the healing phase. These steps help ensure the best possible aesthetic outcome while minimizing risks. We offer these preemptive options to all our cosmetic and body contouring patients to provide the highest level of care.

Thinking about implants? Let's talk about the "water balloon" effect. In Beverly Hills, patients always ask about the difference in feel between silicone and saline. Silicone is the gold standard for a natural, realistic appearance that feels like you. Saline can actually feel like water moving around in your chest—and visible rippling is much more common depending on your tissue thickness.

She landed in Beverly Hills and went straight to the ICU. 🏥 This patient had a severe infection from a previous procedure and flew back to the US with an open, packed wound. It was a life-threatening situation that required immediate surgical intervention. Dr. Som performed multiple clean-out procedures to stop the infection and start the healing process. Today, she isn't just healed—she's thriving and eventually returned for her elective breast lift.

Laser lipo sounds fancy, but here's why I don't use it in my Beverly Hills practice. It's often marketed as a miracle, but many variations are just gimmicks. The laser can cause skin burns and ruins fat cells for grafting. Safety comes before trends.

If you're on a GLP-1, surgery recovery just got more complex. Recent studies show higher wound risks for GLP-1 patients. In Beverly Hills, we don't leave healing to chance. We now test protein levels and provide a specific supplement guide including Vitamin C and D to boost your results and ensure a safe recovery.

Ever wonder why GLP-1s actually work? It's not just magic; it's biology. In our Beverly Hills clinic, we explain that these medications actually slow your stomach function down. This "delayed gastric emptying" is why you feel full so fast. However, eating less can lead to malabsorption if your diet isn't balanced. You have to be intentional about your nutrients when your intake drops significantly. Send this to someone who's currently on a GLP-1 journey.

Did you know GLP-1 medications can cause baseline malnutrition? In my Beverly Hills practice, we're seeing how these drugs impact surgical outcomes. GLP-1s create malabsorption, stripping your body of the enzymes and minerals needed to heal. Whether it's breast surgery or a panniculectomy, we now provide specific supplements to every patient to boost recovery.

Looking up your doctor in Beverly Hills shouldn't stop at Instagram or Yelp reviews. You need to check the state medical board. It is the only place to see actual lawsuits, judgments, or disciplinary actions. Most veteran surgeons have some history, but the details matter—was it a dismissed claim or a serious allegation? Do your homework before you go under the knife.

Did you know insurance is legally required to cover breast reconstruction? It's a fact many people in Beverly Hills still don't know. Since the 80s and 90s, federal law has mandated that insurance companies cover reconstruction after breast cancer surgery. You have rights when it comes to your healing process.
