Imagine being a 13 year old girl brought to the emperor of China as concubine, having to sleep with his old, nasty ass, getting pregnant and manipulating him to become the Empress of China 🇨🇳
in order to hold her title as Empress in a hyper masculine patriarchal Confucius society she killed or forced suicide on thousands of people from Noble’s bureaucrats and yes, her own family from her sons to grandchildren because they stepped out of line or got pregnant by the wrong man and didn’t want that bloodline succeeding to the throne.
For the first time under her reign, women were allowed an education, able to ride horses, play sports, and participate in all levels of government operations. Whereas before women’s only role was to birth and take care of the household, etc…,
It was only when she was in her 80s and ill that she was forced to Advocate her throne to her son.
she was moved to a second palace where she died peacefully.
Remarkably, she left a massive blank tombstone, which is very uncommon and wanted the people of history to write her story. It remains blank till this day with nothing but poems and remarks from people who visit that site. It is known as the “Wordless Stele”
She was and still is the Baddest Bitch to ever walk this earth! And under her reign China flourished and she built a bigger palace than the forbidden city!

Eggs Confit with pressed garlic, thyme, peppercorns, and a little chili flakes; serve with Toasted Rosemary Sourdough Bread, Pan seared asparagus, French Sheep’s Milk Cheese, Shaved Parmesan, Sliced Almonds, Dates, grapes, blueberries, and Honey!

My Ellie May, 1 year ago I lost you and it still hurts. I still can’t believe Jack and I woke up and you stayed in dream land. I don’t have much in this life that brings me true happiness and joy but you did. Every Moment with you was so filled with Love and you just shared it with everyone. Jack misses you so much, that is painfully clear. I miss the way he would give you morning kisses after breakfast like clock work; he doesn’t give many kisses like he used too. We go for walks and there’s a shadow in the sunlight that’s missing. My arms feel uncomfortably light because there’s 26lbs of happiness missing from them. I turn to my left while standing at the stove and my little Sous Chef waiting to sample a new creation isn’t there anymore. There’s a quietness in the home because you’re not making demands, being overly dramatic, and ordering Billy and I around to do you bidding. Even my screen time has gone up because you’re not here to literally knock the phone out of my hand and lay you head in my lap because you need attention right now, no excuses, and won’t settle for anything less then full adoration. So much has changed in a year since you left and I really can’t tell if it’s for better or worse or just life.
