3 months. One brushstroke at a time 🪷

From the first hesitant sketch to the final border — this reel captures everything in between 🙏🏽

Preparing cloth
Preparing natural colours
The filling of colours 🎨
The building of details ✨
The gold leafing that takes your breath away 💛
Shringar of shree nath ji
The border that says — complete 🪷

Pichwai doesn’t just ask for skill — it asks for surrender 🙏🏽

Every session in @bhawanishanker.sharma.520 sir’s class taught me something new — not just about the art, but about patience, devotion, and what it means to show up day after day for something sacred ✨

This is my 3 month Pichwai journey — and it is just the beginning 💛

Created under the guidance of Bhawani Shankar sir, Udaipur 🙏🏽 thank you @kala_vaati for hosting this ☺️

Jai Mata Di 🙏

This year, Maa Durga arrives Gajarudha — seated on an elephant. It’s considered an auspicious sign, linked to good rainfall and prosperity for the year ahead.

Painted in Madhubani style — ten arms, each holding a weapon, riding into the festival on Her elephant.

Save this for your Navratri feed.

Jai Mata Di — drop it below to seek Her blessings 🙏

Pichwai takes patience, practice, and the right guidance to master 🌿 @rooftop_app

It’s one of the traditions closest to my heart — the devotional art of Shrinathji from Nathdwara. And Rooftop has made the learning journey simpler with three books, one for every level:
✨ Elementary — for artists just starting out
✨ Essential — for the mid-level who know a little
✨ Expert — for those ready to deep-dive

Wherever you are, you can begin right there.

📌 Save this for when you’re ready to start.
Which level are you at — Elementary, Essential, or Expert?

Comment PICHWAI and I’ll send you the details 💛
Jai Shree Krishna 🙏

The composition carries its Madhubani inspiration, while the lines, textures and repeating patterns take it into a completely different visual world.

Two folk-art traditions.
One little experiment.
And I absolutely loved how this fusion turned out. 🐦💙

Would you like to see more Gond × Madhubani experiments? Tell me which Madhubani motif I should reinterpret next. 👇

Horses, Gond-inspired 🐎

You guys gave SO much love to my Gond animal series back in August. So many of you messaged asking me to add more to it — so here we go, kicking things off again with these two.

Painted in my own take on Gond — every inch filled with pattern instead of flat colour.

Save this if you’ve been waiting for more.

Which one’s your favourite from the series so far? 👇
